If he gets a haircut and reduces his run up I’d take him.

If he is on our list and kicks 60+ goals I couldn't give a [censored] what he looks like

Wouldn't surprise to see Collingwood get mentioned now they are out of finals.

Port, Geel, Richmond all have one focal point key forward in Dixon, Hawkins and Lynch.

The secondary talls - Marshall, Stanley and Riewoldt - rarely touch the ball.

Weid and Brown just won’t work. Let’s stick with Weid, use our cap space and draft capital finding guys who can run, kick and pressure to create scoring chances. Zak Butters, Mitch Duncan, Shai Bolton - that’s what we need.

agreed. we’ve seen what injured big men look like w tmac AND i don’t believe it’s what we need either. Petty ( hopefully) weid and Jackson is enough. no idea if he’s on the market but shei bolton would be a huge get fr us.

I’m not suggesting he is on the market, I’m saying we need to draft guys like that given Saad and Williams are off the table.

The only trades I’d be making this year would be for cheap fringe improvement players. Save up for a run at Josh Kelly or Merrett next year

Brown , Weid , Jackson, Fritsch.
You would think that they all don’t play in the same fwd line.
May leave Weid vulnerable.

Fritsch makes us top heavy?? ?

As much as I would like to see Weid and Jackson develop into our 1 and 2 fwds going forward, I just don’t think either can be relied on yet. Brown has been very consistent until this year. The down side is if he  does play well it probably means Weid or Jackson will spend a lot of time in the VFL next year, and in Weids case that will probably be the end of his time at dees after next year

A serious Key Forward, pending a full medical

Excellent. I don’t understand those who are against this

Weid as the 2nd Tall.
TMac to get fit

Luke Jackson as The Follower...

He’ll take the number one defender which will hopefully stop the opposition from double-teaming Weid leaving him to do his thing and allowing Jackson to develop. No brainer IMO.

I think they could definitely fit in the same team. Fritsch to play as a high half forward, Jackson can split 50/50 between forward and midfield (ruck and pinch hit as an inside mid). I do have concerns though about the fit of Weideman and Brown with each other, I would look at getting Weideman involved in a trade for Brown, and then we go with a slimmed down Tmac at CHF. If Brown and Tmac  who I reckon would compliment each other well get back to form that could be a seriously damaging forward line with support from Fritsch, Jackson, Kozzi, Trac, and I'd like to see Viney played as a small forward.

Weid’s thing and Brown’s thing are the same thing! Come up to a flank to crash a pack when needed, otherwise be a big target inside 50.

We don’t need 2 guys doing the same thing

Agreed, on the assumption they actually do trade T Mac though you'd assume...

Disagree here.

Brown is you classic lead up and mark forward whereas Weed is your pack mark type player

Hang on. What? How do we know Tom has overcome his injuries? He was clearly playing injured all year.

As for this idea that Tom is a better defensive player than Brown, I'd argue both are as poor as each other. Ever since Tom's played forward, he's rarely laid tackles. This bit seems a bit revisionist for me.

I've been thinking about what @Pollyanna said about us not needing another KPF. I'm not entirely in that boat yet, but I'm not sure how we play Brown and Weideman in the same side. I worry that we become too easy to rebound against

Cap space where,

Ben Brown kicked 10 goals in a game -two games ago.

(This year doesn’t count as it wasn’t a proper season)

You’d think we’d all be doing cartwheels but clearly his perceived value as a prolific goal kicking forward has fallen off the cliff judging by some around here.

Yes, the media (and North have too in fairness) driven his value into the ground. If he was simply injured this year, rather than Norf losing the plot and wanting to push 20 players out the door, the perception would be that he’s worth two first round picks, or something to that effect

He doesn't get on with the coach

It appears that won't be an issue so I'd be looking for a more substantial explanation

New article up re Brown's trade value...which I can't read

Anyone care to summarise?

Second or third round pick seems to be what the article says.

That would be a pretty good result.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
