My Best 22.

FB: Jetta  Omac  Lewis
HB: Hunt  Frost   Hibberd
C: Salem  Viney  Harmes/Vince
HF: Hannan Tmac  Petracca
FF: Garlett  Hogan Watts
Foll: Gawn  Oliver  Jones
Int: Melksham Tyson Bugg/Harmes ANB

Emerg Brayhaw

I think Vince might struggle to get in. This is assuming a Brayshaw gets form back!

Bloody hard team to pick! Imagine if Vandenberg was available??

Very little chance Brayshaw makes it back into the seniors, and also you forgot Salem.

I 100% agree with this side. If we could field this side in the finals we will be hard to beat.

If we make finals and Tom McDonald is still playing forward, I'll drop dead.

Once Watts is back, I believe Tom will slot straight back where he belongs at CHB.

And I hope it's this week.

That's a fair point.

If T.McDonald goes back then O. McDonald goes out.

Well said.

For me. When Watts comes in I'd like to see T. Mc replace O.Mc down back.

I think we play worse when we're too top (tall) heavy.

Interesting that everyone has Melksham in the team.

He was taking a pasting from many on the forum earlier in the season. Great to see he has come good

Would be interested to see who posters consider bottom 6 as that is often how team strength is measured.

In no order my six would be:

Melksham, ANB, Harmes, Hannan, Vince and perhaps Lewis

(I have assumed JKH and Bugg are not in the team.)

I'm assuming that Brayshaw won't be fit to play.

From the two teams above, it looks like a lot will depend on JKH and Harmes' form over the coming weeks.

Either of them would be considered our "22nd player" in my view, which, when you use the "quality of your bottom 6" argument, we're almost getting to a side that will be a serious contender.

That said, I think either of the above sides are more than capable of winning finals this year.

The surprise packet for me is Hannan.  Hasn't he done a terrific job to cement a spot in our 18?

He adds so much versatility to our forward line, I wasn't sure about him early on but he's quickly becoming a favourite of mine.

A great example of quality not quantity.  Doesn't get huge numbers, but he kicks goals, pressures and tackles hard, gets to the right spots and can take a mark.

Ticks a lot of boxes for mine moving forward.

Being reported that Salem is a good chance this weekend, is he going to get injured again, if you know can you let us all know when to look away!

Love him. He's due a screamer. A player who couls bob up with 3 critical goals in a final. Really tricky match up too.

He's everything in a forward that Jeremy Howe wanted to be.

Yeah, but in his defence, when he was playing for us nobody gave a thought to him being a backman.... it took the genius of Collingwood to try him there...

But remember Jeremy is playing in a successful team (14 v 7) ?

Joking aside, what an inspired selection has Hannan been.   Quick, hard, leap, goal sneak.  A real surprise packet.

Why are people writing of brayshaw so quickly assuming he plays VFL this week or next,he would surely be close to match fit by finals time. I know a lot has to go right but Hogan and Gawn both didn't go through the VFL.

I deff have him in my best 22 ahead of melksham harmes ANB and JKH.

Both Hogan and Max have a few more runs on the board than Gus. Don't forget why he was at Casey when his unfortunate series of concussions began. He was omitted from the AFL team for reasons of form.

I also hope he gets back quickly to full health and good form but I wouldn't be backing him to reclaim his place just yet. Probably not this year

But without any need to provide anymore content on OMAC, won't you be dropping dead online anyway? How will we know the difference?

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
