I keep reading in this thread about the concern of a "long trip to WA". I hope it's only supporters who even think that it's a concern. West Coast and Freo cope with this "long trip" every two weeks or so. If they can do it, we can do it. And we only have to do it a couple of times per season. If our team's mindset is somehow compromised by this concern then we're not yet ready to be a power club.

Have you seen West Coast's record away from home?

Anyone know if any other teams have three straight 6 day breaks with  a big interstate trip in the middle?

We have been shafted by the AFL schedulers, I am surprised PJ let them get away with it.

You're the first I've seen complain seriously about it. Part of the reason it happens is that we had a QB game. Always gonna have short breaks after that. Plus the Anzac one.

I feel like it's more of a Scott brothers thing to complain about everything you don't get.

Imagine if the games didn't go Monday > Sunday > Saturday > Friday... and went Monday > Saturday > Saturday > Friday. Would you be anymore pleased? 5 day break followed by 7 and 6... You ca write off the 5 day break.

I reckon 3 6ers is a great get in point of fact. It's doable.

Just as we had all the good news...

Still. We have options. Gawn coming back and Hogan soon means structurally we might not have such dire need for the production Jones brings.

I'm gonna get more up and about about Trengove coming in now. Fair warning. lol

Jones hasn't missed since Round 14, 2012. Let that sink in for a second.

Its going to be weird seeing the team run out without him over the next month. On the bright side, its a brilliant test for our younger players, especially Viney to take on the added load in the midfield.

Also, this is where the absence of Brayshaw really hurts. I'd love to see him play a full game in the midfield and not as a defensive half forward.

It'll be the Darwin game that kills us and we brought that on ourselves.

Good to see Port lining up the suckers to sell their home game for the China fling next year.

See that the AFL revisionists are now calling it a success save for the bad game by the Suns.

We're better placed to cover the loss of Jones than ever before. Max back is a good start.

So Jones out - Gawn in

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
