Take the rest of the year off and have one last roll of the dice next season.

For every Steve Bradbury in sport, there are lots of deserving Brayshaws.

Ted, are you aware of Bradbury's run of bad luck for the previous 2 Olympics?

Yeah, KB saying it hit the post twice ?? So it's not in his mind goal of the week .... WTF

watching the game on Tv and hearing commentary there was no suggestion that it clipped the post

Heard this from a couple of people, watched it on youtube multiple times and I think it actually did clip the post, impossible to tell in real time though.

Yes its where the review system breaks down. Nobody asked for a review (not that it would be any clearer) so it stands. Lets face it, Clarry is too fast for everybody.

Looked to me like it clipped the near post.
Watched it a couple times since and didn't change my opinion.
Judging by Clarrys reaction he had no doubt he'd just kicked a rippa..

Now even the sad-sack "this only happens to us" [censored] is falling our way!

GO DEMONS!!

Melbourne player with goal of the week ??? No that doesn't sound right ? Let's instead just drool over another Eddie betts goal, or show Monday love for Joel Selwood again wearing a headband  (cue gerard Whateley) , or downplay Cotchins jumper punch , or lament Cyril's bad luck at that knee in the back that went wrong... media are so predictable

there is one footage (front on) where the ball seems to change direction round about the time it passes the right hand goal post. i wondered whether it might have been a video artifact, like the video had a stutter. if it did clip the inside of right hand post then it would be hard to explain how it then continued to the right of the left hand post, given the angle of the kick.

given no-one claimed it clipped the goal post at the time i'm inclined to think it was a visual trick as the ball revolution altered (due to the banana effect) or that part of the video had a technical artifact event

Thats a good explanation.

I think the clip returns to closer to real time as the ball passes the near post, as it speeds up. You can also see the change in speed in the reactions and movements of the fans in the stand. Clean goal for me.

Well I've again reviewed the video tape.
As it only looks like it hit the post in the slow mo replay I reckon Daisycutter's on the money.

Yep it looks strange the slow mo, but the camera behind the goals shows it's a clear goal no way it hit the post

If anything I thought his right boot was over the line when he kicked it.

Oliver's left foot is on the line and his right boot appears to take a divot on the outside of the line just before kicking.

Impossible to tell tho' where the ball was at the point of impact.

Benefit of the doubt to Clarrie

As an aside, don't all goals get reviewed before the next bounce anyway?  No complaints from the upstairs umpire.

Clarrie's goal!

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
