Geelong Cats v Casey Demons

KC from Casey

I really rate Dom Tyson but despite our depleted injury stocks he is the only player we have with someone banging down the door for his spot.

I guess if Mitch White has a couple more good games you could say the same about Melksham. Except the i really rate him part.

Wagner?  How did he go after a longish break.

I doubt Tyson will get dropped. Bugg's spot is up for grabs if he doesn't perform.

Geelong were far too big for Casey (for obvious reasons).

Other than that, I have minimal that I can contribute, mainly because I had no idea who most players were.  But, I can contribute this (for the little that it's worth);

- Trengove will struggle to play another senior game.  Love Jack, but just think the game has gone past him.

- Ben Ken got reported I think.  Didn't see it as it was on the other side of the ground, but saw umpire taking numbers.  He played ok apart from that, but not dominant.

- Hulett is a long way off.

- Wagner was very good.  2 more weeks at Casey and he will be ready for a call up.  Big boy.

- Kent's attitude is terrible.  He wasn't great, laid some good tackles, but for a guy that should be in the 1s, he didn't play or act like it.

- Harmes wasn't brilliant.

- Mitch White's best is very good, just needs to bridge the gap between his best and worst.

- Not sure who number 48 is/was, but thought he showed a bit.

Other than that, I totally admire regular Casey contributors like KC, bloody tough gig being able to report on individual players.

Can you elaborate a bit on Trengove?

He has been in the bests a number of times now and is getting a fair bit of the ball. What is it that's stopping him from returning?

Just looked, 48 was Maynard.  Think he might sneak a senior spot before the season ends.

Was good to see Goodwin, Rawlings, Ben Matthews, AND Josh Mahoney all in attendance.  Would be nice if Josh didn't treat everyone like a journalist though.

Also, David Rodan is a very technically correct goal umpire.

Hate to say it, but he's a plodder.  Accumulates possession, but isn't very damaging.

I have always been a big JT fan, and would love to see him play seniors again.  Based on today, it would be a sympathy selection more than anything.  Only my view though and that's based on it being the first game of Casey that I have ever seen live, so grain of salt stuff!

Was not sure who he was, so didn't really look for him until the last quarter.  Don't think he was great, but by the time I started to notice him, the Geelong big guys were killing us.

In short, I didn't see an AFL standard ruckman in hm at this stage.  Thought he got pushed around pretty easy in the last quarter, but he could've been knackered too!

Sorry I can't help much more with King.

Kent was named our second best player behind Wagner. Did you see it differently or are we really that bad?

The Casey Demons left out both Billy Stretch and Sam Weideman. Unless Weideman is carrying a mystery injury, it would be strange for him to be left out two weeks in a row.

interesting.

Probably just the calf injury he got against the Dockers.  Thought the training report said he didnt train on Friday.

Always hard, the AFL listed players generally always stand above the VFL listed players. That said, I thought Maynard was better than Kent. My issue with Kent today was more about attitude than anything else. Maybe I just have higher expectations of blokes that should be in the 1's.

In answer to your question though, I didn't think we were very good today. We looked slow compared to Geelong. It was actually almost a carbon copy of our seniors. Didn't look quick, overpossessed a lot, but hung in there for the whole game. Just lacking that bit of class, which is probably what I would expect Kent to bring at this level.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

The Demons almost blew a six goal lead and ultimately hung on to win by three points over the North Melbourne Kangaroos at the MCG and have temporarily jumped back into the Top 8.

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
