@Stevethemanjordan is correct about Dom. Too many people believe disposals have been effective. it just means he touches it. His only shining light is that he gets to where the ball is. ANB is similar that he can cover ground to get where the ball is. Both are highly ineffectual.

The delimma with two face Tyson is this....

Dark side:  Can be horrid in congestion a little too often when quick decision making / disposal and instinctive/speedy play is required.  Often unable to get onto his left with any urgency or at all at times, he will either sell a player into trouble with a panic / hospital handball or just run straight into a tackler or two as he has no other option or just isn't agile enough (mind/body) to evade.  Good example Was the mis directed handball right at the end on the defensive paint of 50 which gifted the Saints another junk time goal.  Against a better club in a tight encounter that could be the match!  

Bright Side:   Get him out in the open a little with a bit more time / space and allowed to get onto his left ( allowing more time to asses and steady on his preferred side),  and he can look quite silky and finish nicely a la his lovely goal on the run and hitting the odd player i50.  In general play he is also quite good at reading the play and  flight of ball and getting the odd intercept mark for a quick rebound.

This is why some see him as a solid contributor / finisher (on the outside), because depending on the circumstances he can be at times, and others see him as an NQR, because he is also that at other times in congestion (on the inside).

Who's spot in our best 22 could it be reasonably said that Tyson is taking up right at this point?

Why are you taking away handballs? That's just stupid when critiquing a player who handballs as often as he kicks and plays their best footy as an inside midfielder.

How about you focus on the whole game instead of just one aspect, then maybe you will be able to see the value he represents. He has his flaws but he is still an important player and will continue to be as we phase out our older players.

I actually find it quite ironic that you rate Lever so highly considering you have such a narrow minded focus.

Why ? A handball is a disposal. Would you apply the same criteria to Oliver and only assess his kicks ? Of course not. Thought you were better than that STMJ.

I've watched the replay and Tyson was nowhere near as bad as some here are painting him. I agree he's no wingman but when you've got Harmes in a negating role for 75% of the centre bounces, there's not a lot of room for Tyson to do what he does best.

If you want to see a game of poor disposals, fumbles below the knees and dumb decisions, critically analyse the game of #2.

I think Tyson is not our issue. IHe plays his role and is doing no worse than any other. My concern is forward pressure . Solve that and we could be in the top four .

I'm not his biggest fan, but anyone who has an issue with his game yesterday, just flat out has it in for him.

And those saying his touches were ineffective? Seriously, what game were you watching? He was prolific and his kicking was somewhat surprisingly on point, and kicked an absolute beauty of a goal.

He's not played his best footy yet this year (his best is top 5 in our BnF multiple times by the way), but he's been decent-good and is easily in our best 22. He's apparently become a whipping boy on here recently, but we've got far greater problems and worse players out there than Dom. People need to take their blinkers off when assessing him.

A few moments of intense kicking practice from both feet might make the difference. His possession count is pleasing, otherwise. Kicking skills, in general, across the team are the consequence of the 'long bomb' syndrome that most of the team have committed to for nearly 4 years, off and on. Jones has made somewhat of a shift with this kicking delivery to head-up passing, so Dom can do this, as well.

Both Jones and Tyson are habitual butchers but they're not alone.
ANB and Stretch are also turnover merchants.

Tyson was very good yesterday, especially in the first half. He was everywhere and linked up well. He was ranked as the 3rd most effective player on the ground at half time. For a player not blessed with speed he finds himself in the right spots most of the time. 

People will use his 7 turnover stat yesterday as a guide to prove their point, but last week he was credited with 1 turnover to Salem’s 9 and nothing was said about Salem yet Tyson still received the usual comments. 

There must be a lot of Tysons running around the league this year, the average kicking efficiency league wide is at 65%.

I like the idea of giving him more time and space on the outside, and if Viney gets back in and under (with Clarry, Angus, Salem and Jones), then more time and space could make him even better.  He can still rotate through the contest.

I don't understand the angst over Tyson.

His sometimes iffy kicking/disposal and occasional "slow to react" moments are holding him back from being a much better player than he is. 

His number one talent is getting to where the ball is/getting his hands on the ball. So he is doing a job for us at the moment and if he continues to be solid he will continue to get a game until someone who offers more than him comes along.

I think the club overall may be working on the lowering the eyes to hit forward targets.  Done well yesterday, and noticeably by serial offender Jaydyn Hunt who made some great first 1/4 decisions in the game.

Yep, you are correct about that aspect. It is refreshing to watch, to see the ball used with some purposeful intent at the 'team' level.

I’ve never quoted statistics to justify the importance of Tyson. Just watching him play it is obvious we are a better side when he is in and playing well.

I thought he was surprising, that he was goo,d and kicked the ball well on a few occasions. Trusted himself to snap at goa,l which was a beauty.
