Whatever the weather very happy to see us help put the tiges back to where they belong in the land of lower middle ladderdom.

greta to have hogan back and welcome to the club Hibberd - his nickname at the bombers was pig I think so if it does get muddy out there hopefully he feels right at home.

pity about the rain, would have gotten over 70K you'd have thought

at least there is heavier rain forecast for the drug cheats tomorrow (bitter much?)

go Dees!  strangely confident but Ive been this way before with disasterous results

I'm not cocky, but I'm not going in with a defeatist mindset either.  I am going in with the confidence that our best footy is far superior to theirs, and that there's no reason that we can't show this tonight.  It's not going to just happen for us, so hopefully the players are ready to put in the effort.  If they are, then we can win this.

My rudimentary understanding of meteorology suggests that thunder is accompanied by lightning. Does the AFL have a rule that stops play if there's lightning? I can't recall a game ever having been paused for this reason but surely it's an OH&S issue for players and officials if there's lightning about.

PS: Thunder and lightning seem appropriate to get the best out of demons.

I hope if it does rain heavily, the players and coaches are smart enough to go to a simplified more direct game style.  In the past we've been exposed in slippery conditions by over possessing the footy.

No, it's the players mentality that gets us nowhere.

The comment was aimed at all stakeholders - players and fans alike

Exactly. I would prefer it dry. We muck around with the ball to much for wet weather.

Richmond are our b!tches.

2017 is looking like it will break all records of forced turnovers and this game will add to that - weather another variable to include.

Just get it done around the contest. We have a harder on-ball brigade even without Lewis. Viney will bounce back into form and Jones will easily shake any tag - probably from the C grader Caddy.

I expect our physicality to absolutely rattle the Tigers early on and set us up for a comprehensive win.

Agree with ProDee, I reckon Tracc will shine tonight and Hogan will be unstoppable.

Cmon boys.!

MFC has a reputation of being brittle and deservedly so after the Freo game.

Lose tonight and we will be regarded by Essendon as a very beatable team and we end up 2-4 with season and crowd following in the doldrums.

Time for the team to stand up and deliver its future.

They stopped the Melbourne Brisbane womens game due to lightening earlier this year. It has to be pretty close for them to do it though.

They paused the GWS/Swans round 1 two years ago due to lightning. Think there was a half hour/40 minute delay

Petracca to announce himself on the big stage with 4 goals.

Agree PD, I think he'll have a big game. We need him to fire with Kent out. Don't see who in Richmond's back 6 could go with Trac, so hopefully he fires up!

I would imagine that the MCG with its exceptionally high stands on all sides containing tones on metal would act like a lightning rod and take the hit rather than the  players or fans. Having said that they would probably err on the side of caution and wait until the lightning passes.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
