Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Pederson CAN take a contested mark

Pederson DOES snag a goal on a tight angle

Pederson DOES compete in the air to bring the ball to ground

Pederson DOES spoil when he needs to

Pederson is NOT afraid of body contact

Pederson HAS gone down to Casey and proved himself at the lower level

Pederson HAS completed several pre-season preparations

Do I need to continue?

Not afraid of body contact? Do you remember the first game he played for us against Port Adelaide???

He may be able to do these things but on the training track doesn't count

He can Ruck too, is a very reliable kick and can take a great grab.

Feel a bit sorry for Pedo, his papers must be stamped

Wow, ProDee doesn't rate Cam. Thank god he reminds us all of this thrilling fact in 85 different threads every day, otherwise we might have forgotten.

As a result, I expect Pedo to have a break out season and to become a 6 month long avatar pic.

That's not even remotely statistically correct.

How so?

When he was in the side we won 6 of 9 (66.6%)

When out of side we won 4 of 13 (30.7%)

I'm not saying he is the reason we are winning, just that when he plays we win more often for some reason.

Yes every one, he is just not in many of them.

Pedo made one mistake, but since that time he's put his body on the line many times and taken some very courageous marks.

I'm not sure why he's not picked but obviously the coach doesn't rate him, same with Trenners, guess they don't fit in to the plan, maybe they are both a bit slow.

I'd prefer to see Pedo in the team. He contributes. And he can take a mark.

I agree.  That duck in his first game for us was probably the best thing that could have happened as I've never seen him shirk a contest since.  He is competent forward, back and in the ruck.  His slimming down can only have improved his speed.   I would contend that at the moment there is a case for including him in our best 22.

But that's the issue for me - when Watts is out of the forward line, we rob our forward line just to have someone sit in the ruck.

Pedersen could play Smith/Weideman's role, not add much less than them (and no, for the record, he won't add much more either), but by rucking that prevents us from having to ruck Watts when we should be playing him as a permanent forward. And as you've said, it's not like Watts is so much of a better ruckman that it's noticeable.

It's the Brad Miller argument again. Some people have VERY short memories.

Why we need the Bear is that we need that serviceable, bullocking forward who (now more than ever) can pinch hit in the ruck. Pedo isn't the one to put the cherry on the sundae. He is the bloke sticking his arze out to let our crumbers find an avenue into goal, jumping into packs so our mids can get repeat entries into 50 and he is the bloke who has the build to ruck in the forward fifty (though Jack has been manful). Leigh Brown played that role masterfully for Collingwood, Ox did it after he came back from his knee recos and the Bear plays it pretty well for us too now.

Brad Miller did the same thing in the late 00's/early 10's but some were saying that he wasn't part of our next premiership 22 (I am sad to say but since Goody took over some are spouting this 'putting the cart before the horse' rhetoric again). He  was thus delisted. We were then left with Jack Watts who wasn't ready yet to be a leading forward (and has since revealed himself to be a good third forward). Without that big body there, it dented his already fragile confidence.

We now have two potential star forwards in the Weid (who still is speculative at best at the moment) and Jesse (who has shown his wares on a more regular basis). Jesse is a finisher and won't want to play the workhorse role for too long. Weid is a colt at best and is nowhere near physically ready. We need someone to play that role until Jess and Weid can control the forward line on their own.

Frost is a terrible ruck and borderline backman. For gods sake, at least play him where he's best.

Pedo in to do ruck with Watts pinch hitting.

Lewis and Bugg in too. JKH and ANB or Harmes out. Not happy with any of those 3 playing

Weid may get another look in if Smith and Trac out.

How many great plays did Watts set up tonight with his deftly placed disposal tonight?  The answer being quiet a few, but could have been so many more had he played 90% of the time as a forward rather than a ruckman.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
