Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hibberd.  Frost and AVB are best 25 IMO.  unless they improve theyll play a handful of games

Hibberd is best 22, everyday of the week, you cannot compare a seasoned footballer with 84 games to two guys who have barely played.

I cant agree with that. Gawn's marks in the forwardline almost always come from him floating forward either alone or with a ruckman (or sometimes an unlucky midfielder) following him. If you play him as a forward he will be up against real key defenders who while maybe giving up some size will be much better at nullifying him and kill him on the rebound.

Maybe.  I seem to recall him also marking in a pack of various defenders and shall watch him with interest in the square under the roof.

that doesn't surprise me

In the end, somewhat surprised, somewhat disappointed.

Looking forward to seeing Hannan play but not sure that he should be coming in ahead of Kent given he has also had a limited pre-season.

Weideman very lucky to get a gig.

Happy that Spencer is not playing.

Not sure that ANB should be playing but I guess this shows that for all the pre-season talk about our depth (which happens every season), we still have a long way to go.

I like the team the ANB Decision I'm a bit miffed about I guess he was fighting for the last spot in the side, just not sure why he gets the spot above bugg and harmes is he quicker than them, better tank I personally would have had bugg in the side

Not every player has to be elite. GWS have buntine listed as playing this weekend. Not sure how much better bunting is than ANB

True, but how do you know they're at exactly the same levels of development heading into 2017 ?

Misson may consider Hannan ready due to his training, match simulations and workload, but Kent not ready.

How do you know this isn't the case ?

To me it seems logical that it would be.

Dees to win by 27points.

Petracca to be best on ground and prove why the saints made a big mistake not taking him at pick 1.

ANB to kick 3 plus 2 assists if played as a crumbing forward. When played as a forward he is an opportunist and rarely doesn't score. I think it's his best position providing he gets the defensive aspects of his game right.

All true, but from what I saw at training last Friday, Kent appeared to be ready to go.

Kent from memory had a good period pre-christmas while Hannan was in rehab so in that regard I find it surprising. Can't say I noticed Hannan at all in the match simulation on that particular day.

I do like the attributes Hannan brings to team, so hopefully logic prevails.

Did you see Cripps last night ?  He was a shadow of his 2016 and that's because he's underdone.

This is where I place faith in the sports science guys and match committee to know who's right to go.  Sometimes a player is only a week away, but that week can make a difference.

Round 1 gets a lot of attention, but the season is long and every player we like doesn't have to be played in round 1 if it's deemed they're not ready.

Hopefully Cripps is more than a week away. I'd be happy enough with 2 weeks away at this stage.

The other factor I haven't seen discussed is that it's an away game for us and as such I suspect we'll be wearing that awful white away strip. NBG.

Club confirmed a few weeks ago that we'll be wearing the "alternate" clash strip (the one we wore against the Dogs in JLT 1).

I think both sides have gotten stronger in regards to personnel and games into youngsters.

No Montagna helps us. But no Tyson doesn't help as he is a gun at his best.

Hopefully Riewoldt is starting to drop off......

Thanks for that effort

After comparing our two sides - We are a hell of a lot stronger on paper than our last meeting!

This has actually swung me from the thoughts of dealing with a loss to the thoughts of celebrating a win!

Saints have beaten us in recent times by running us off our legs

They have gone with a much taller team as apposed to last time and we have gone with a much smaller team

Interesting.

Nearly 50% of the players on Saturday have a first name beginning with J.

Quite Astonishing.

Lots of Jacks and Jakes.

Whilst Tyson and Kent are clearly best 22 when on their A game I reckon they are the most sensitive to being useless when not at their best. Tyson's JLT appearance was a good case in point. Go with those with the best conditioning and touch I say.

Here is my tip for surprise matchup. Smith on Riewoldt.

If Nick plays on the wing you need a tall player with pace, who can stay with him.

Smith is quick, has some height and could be given the huge job to negate the champ.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
