Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I love the reception he was given by the crowd today! If only he'd been given the ball out wide when he was streaming into the forward 50. Whoever it was that took the shot hit the post i think.

Was Harmes, I wanted him to give it too. But he was entitled to take the shot given he was on less of an angle and under little pressure.

What a return that was by Gussy though. A huge performance given how much his confidence would have suffered over the past couple of months. He is quality and I can't wait until he gets a clean run and another full year under his belt.

Petracca, Oliver and Gus all having big off-seasons and injury free years next year will be enormous for us.

Great courage by the young man to keep contesting after a heavy head knock - Stevens unfortunately had concussion and a burst ear drum.

Gus: “My mum’s here somewhere, so I’m sure she would’ve nearly had tears coming out after that,” he said on Fox Footy.  “It was a pretty solid hit. I’ve had a few of those and I feel fine, so I’ve got full confidence. I’ve done all the work.”

A proud day for the Brayshaw family.  So rapt for him (and us).

Yeah was definitely heart in the mouth stuff when he took that knock.

As they said on the TV commentary though, it may have been the best thing that happened to him, as from that point on in the game he was awesome.

Agreed. And Gus said similar.  He said a month ago he wouldn't have gone in.  He was 'happy' it happened early as it gave him confidence that he would be ok and confidence in all he had learnt about his technique.

I noticed that as Stevens got near him, Gus bent his arm and pulled it in close to his chest and took the brunt of the knock with his upper arm while still going for the ball.  It lessened the blow to his head so I guess this is an example of the improved technique.

I really like that he has been 'tested' and passed with flying colours!   Probably allays some of his mum's fears as well.

Oh for sure Harmes was definitely in a better position. It would have made everyone's day though if Gus had kicked it! ;)

For someone that hasn't played an AFL game since Round 2(?) that was a super impressive performance. Gus slotted in and looked like he hasn't missed a game all year.

I really am super stoked for the kid to come back after everything that happened to him, and put in a performance like that. Bravo.

He might not like wearing the helmet, but it definitely made me feel better when I saw "the helmet" getting in the contest, or getting a possession. I always felt like we were in good hands there.

on the abc commentary they were talking about how much he clearly HATES wearing the helmet; apparently every time he came to the bench the first thing he would do was rip it off and throw it into the bunker

very funny

He said it gets extremely hot

He looked three times the player we seen earlier in the year. Looked to of slimmed down a bit too. Moved well, blown up towards the end of the third (which is expected for a player who hasn't played much). Looks to have adjusted his game. He is moving better, and more importantly, he was making good decisions. I was a bit worried he was just a bad decision maker (as I had noticed earlier in the year), but perhaps that was put down to something else. He looked one of our better decision makers yesterday. Club has done a good job.

That low left foot kick that went 50m to a running Harmes toward the city end was just the best piece of skill from anyone on the day. That is why he comes back so quickly - he is so talented. If he can stay on the park for the next 5 years he will be valuable. Whether that is in the guts or on a flank.

The thing about him playing HBF is that it is the easiest position on the ground by far and he will be able to play that role easily.

Absolutely thrilled for Gus (and for the Demonland fraternity, of course).  Before the game, all I was hoping for was for him to come through unscathed.  I expected him to be 'rusty' and take a few weeks at least to 'find the pace' of the game, and I think I would even have understood if he had shirked a contest or two.  None of that ............ his return was seemless.  The fact that he was so influential, and in our best handful of players, is just 'wow' material!  Couldn't be happier!

Paul Callery

Did Earl Spalding wear one for a bit?

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
