Demonised, returning OD's lid would seem to be the neighbourly thing to do yes? It might also assist in returning D'land to some kind of normality!

You know what you can do with the implement from the "dark Ages" rn

 I must be taking longer to thaw out OD. The period of horror i think you are referring to felt more like an ice age from where i was sitting!

It is very dark with that lid on RN

I will make a deal with you OD. If we beat the Aints at Shitihad first up i will literally find a decent sized dark lid and lob it somewhere down the street here and join you in casting away that nasty pall of our recent past. Mind you i will probably wait till night time or someone might just fling it straight back at me! Most likely that bloody Hawthorn neighbour of mine.

After that i will also need to head to the Box Hill RSL for a few pints of Stone & Wood to assist in my gradual rehabilitation

Thanks for yesterday's gift MFC but after so many years of abject failure I'm not exactly practiced in the art of keeping the lid on and my first test comes tonight when we go out for dinner and two of the people at the table will be Carlton supporters.

How do I go about keeping the lid on?

Do I mention yesterday's game at all or do I just feign ignorance about it and start a discussion on Donald Trump's latest escapades?

...just say, Oh yes, it was only a practice match i know, but what i was wondering was, why is Carlton playing bruise free football these days?

After a decade of a firmly fastened lid it is off in my household.

We have a vastly superior side to four years ago and I am confident we will win 13+ games in 2017.

Sorry a small delay I just threw  the lid over the back fence.

GO DEES.

You correctly predicted 10 wins last year OD so I'm heading to the TAB.

2.40* is a little skinny though (to make the 8)

*Gamble responsibly.

But How strong was the Carlton side,   any senior players missing, playing in unfamiliar positions,   any other reason   or are they just Shite !

They were missing Cripps, he's a star but he's only one player.

I reckon it's always better if you don't mention it. They'll be expecting it and so you get the entire night of them squirming in anticipation. ;)

The later,  they have four no 1 picks, and only one of them they can take to the bank in the rebuild.  The only player missing from their best 22 is Cripps (who is injured and you assume would have played if he was fit).  Their ruck stocks are thin with their reserve back up ruck (Goringge) going down  with an achilles (Phillips has stress fractures in his foot) and relying almost solely on Kreuzer to stay on the park.  Not hard to understand why GWS packaged up so many players in the fire sale - and if you believe the rumours - there maybe some discontent with SOS's list management as players like Palmer, Wiley etc are list cloggers.  Long story short is the get out of jail card is that Bolton is experimenting in the preseason, but he has limited cattle and knows this year and next they are going to be on the end of some fearful hidings.

I've been saying for years that SOS is a rubbish list manager. I reckon I might have been able to pick the GWS blokes. Like shooting fish in a barrel a lot of the time. Then there's his crowning jewel. The first three picks in the 2012 draft. What a shocker. 2014 wasn't much better for SOS.

Hilarious that people rate him. If what you say is true about the discontent, how long did that take them? :P

Carlton reminds me very much of the old boys club that pervaded the MFC for so many years and got us into trouble.

I've been saying to my Carlton mate for a little while now that they're at least 3-4 years behind us. I reckon they seem to be getting further and further away with every season.

Hoping that they can get a couple more spoons over the next few years. They're not far off being worse than us in those days. Their drafting, I would argue, has been worse.

I'd give Bolton another year or two max and then he'll be out.

Can you tell I'm taking a certain sense of glee from Carlton's demise? :D

It's great to hear your optimism OD. It's going to be a rollercoaster ride from here on in. We're going to soar to great heights but will take a few dips in the process. I just want to never leave the ground at three quarter time again!

GO DEES!

We're 3 years into the rebuild and they're one. We played a good hit out last week and it was their first match.  A lot of our players have played at Casey which is a difficult ground.  We smashed them as expected but as I posted elsewhere we don't have a reputation for delivering the expected.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
