Simon Goodwin says "he is pleased the club’s members and supporters are excited about its future prospects," but could this backfire on him if things don't go according to plan?

No!

It's not as if we supporters haven't had any expectations in the past.

What could go wrong anyway?

Is your glass half empty, RS?

Can be a lot more than half full this time I reckon - unless of course we keep draining it in celebration, not sorrow.

He is backing us in, no more reality bus or rebuilding we are now a finals contender and anything less than a finals birth is a failure. Exactly the cut throats attitude we need

Well, technically we're heading into Year Four of a five year plan. I reckon after those five years, we're a real chance to pinch a flag. So as soon as 2019. From where we were in 2013, that's near incredible.

No it's not a 5 year plan

PJ just got the place running properly unlike the previous shambles

interesting if you see Schwabs FB Page it is full of Richmond material. Nothing MFC...

Ha, ha ... the most laughable comment of the year. Schwab hasn't been part of the club for almost four years and you expect him to be all over Melbourne instead of the club he was raised up supporting as a child?

Clarko was at Melbourne for a couple of years but I'll bet if he had a FB page today it would be full of Hawthorn material.

You really crack me up sometimes.

We are a real chance next year.

2019 is hardly snatching it.

You could argue that the dogs snatched 2016 after 62 years of planning or that they got everything right in about 3 years.

Never expected Schwab to be "all over us" after 4 years. But after 2 stints as CEO for the MFC i found it interesting that there is no mention of the club

Not that i lost any sleep over it

Yeah, I'd love to say we'll be able to win it next year, but frankly that's absurd.

Naturally, hope you're right though.

I'll get mildly excited after we win 4 out of the first 5 or 6 out of the first nine.

Having difficulties forgetting the round 21 let down against Carlton.... everything to play for and .... well we all know what happened

Agreed Jim, that still smarts and serves as a reminder of what complacency does.

I followed this up and you're right. Clarkson played 41 games for Melbourne but has only one picture on his Facebook page of himself wearing Hawthorn colours and there's no red and blue in sight. What an absolute disgrace.

Then I looked up Cameron Schwab's FB and it has pictures of Richmond, a baseball player, a black American, Kevin Murray (Fitzroy), various sketches and Adam Goodes. I was shocked that there was nothing about the club which he left in difficult circumstances with half the supporters baying for his blood because the blokes running around on the ground were underperforming.

A CEO recruits people to the organization who can do all the different tasks needed.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
