Haven't heard alot about Jordan Lewis how is he traveling?

Without being funny, he is exactly how you would expect him to be, everything he does is just professional, today when they were doing match simulation when they swapped over and some players stood watching, he was pointing, coaching, commenting.......when playing he was just Jordan Lewis

The oldies group was the Bequest group /committee of the Club

Wagner has had a grumbly quad

Think Nev's issue is blisters, gave me a silly answer when I asked

Garlo's strapping is precautionary

BenKen's strapping from incident on Friday

Excellent reporting of drills again by DSs

He was definitely sore and feeling his ankle after clashing with Stretch. Not sure it's major but it's not just blisters. Brayshaw had me more worried but I was happy to see back on his feet and do some run throughs.

Brayshaw was ok, Nev had his toes and sole of his foot taped before training, assumed blisters, didn't see the ankle bit, but after previous injuries he has ankles strapped now, wasn't limping when I spoke to him, told me he was sore from stepping too many teammates ?

Let's be realistic, if we get through till Christmas without a reasonably serious injury or two, we'll be doing well.

Which should happen given we're not in full contact yet

Egan was asked about the music at training. For those who haven't been to training, they have music blasting out from the punt rd end. The reason behind this is to overcome noise & in game day situations there are points where you cant hear the person that's yelling at you so you have to use signals.

I had a conference at the Glass House yesterday next to the Pies ground. They had the music blaring from the sidelines as well.

Worth noting that they looked pretty bloody average, especially going forward. A lot of passes dropping short or going straight to a defender. So much for the highest rated midfield in the comp!

Unfortunately you don't need full contact to get injured.

Yep, during preseason most of the serious injuries seem to occur from innocuous incidents.

Just the other day an Eagles player did his ACL changing direction.

I thought about it once but I changed my mind, too dangerous.

If we aren't in full contact we are pretty close. They are bumping, tackling, spoiling, crashing in on loose balls.

It wouldn't surprise me if after Monday they pull back and focus on skills and running for the next 2 sessions to get through til the end of year break then ramp up the competitive stuff again. Then again, they are trying to train at high intensity and under pressure so they'll probably just keep it going.

I agree DS, the physicality of the sessions has been a standout, Wednesdays are normally craft days, but there is still a bit of banging bodies, believe the plan for Friday is 'to put on a show for the supporters' so assume it will be more of the same, I hope so anyway:rolleyes:,

Difference this year is Misso's program has worked it's magic over 3 years and we have men clashing with men, as somebody has already said you do can do an ACL turning too quickly, think they just want to train as they will play

I think the pics of Pencil and Hulett wrestling sums up the training, and Kent, trying to bring down Max, if you can stick them here

Injuries suck, but if you train to avoid them, you will never be much good.

We need to be physical and train hard within reason- aka keep Viney away from everyone

As they say "yeah right", he nearly killed a fence on Monday.

I have spoken to both Macca and Goody, if you shirk at training, you shirk in games, it is non-negotiable, any really good fair hit or tackle gets instant praise

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
