Hi, Every one newbie here. Just on the topic of Melbourne gear etc. About two years ago i was in a sport shop in the city and bought my self a laddies silver watch with the old logo with the emblem on it, i asked the person who had sold me the watch why there wasn't a lot of Demon gear as there was for other teams? He response was Melbourne licience. I asked what do you mean and he said Melbourne is a very hard team to deal with.

Well last year my friend and i were at Highpoint shopping center and my friend was going to her daughter one of those build a bears, i noticed on the back wall little football jumpers and thought i would look for the demon one of course; there wasn't one so i asked the lady and she said sorry we don't stock any Melbourne ones, i asked how come? she said the same thing as the guy in the city.

So when you guys were talking about Melbourne gear i thought i would jump on and let you guys know.

Please forgive my spelling and grammar errors i have dyselexia and may get a lot wrong spelling wrong.  So i am very sorry if i do, i will try my best not to make so many.

I have been a Melbourne member and cheer squad member for 17 years now this year will be my 18th and i also used to be a member when i was a kid up until i was 18 but after having a baby let it laps for a few years in my early teens. I know what the was i thinking?:( but i will not let it happen again.

Bug you should email PJ with that, We have to get our gear into the shops

It's 101 stuff, i am shocked at what you have written and thankyou for bringing it to the attention of myself and others

We have no right to be hard to deal with, The MFC should be proactive in getting our name out there.

I was going to buy gear at XMAS time and went to go the Demon Shop but abandoned it as there is zero places to park. Stupid

Binman, just FYI, there is an underground carpark next to the Demon Shop. If you tell the guy on the gate that you're there to go to the shop, he will find a spot for you to park.

I've done it about 4 times.

I understand the clothing range will be liked by many. But I'm not one for "Jones Nerd" tees, "Ugly" tees and sweaters, large retro logos, "Army Hoodies" or "2 tees in a tin". I'm older and want to support my club but in an understated sort of way. I also play golf, where a lot of the time dress rules prohibit logos and loud slogans. I don't even want "Member 2017" added because it immediately dates the item.

I did look at the polos. The 2017 Premium Polo is only available in two sizes (S and XL), and has no product information. The 2017 members polo is "sold out" in every size except S, and lists "back print" under the information (but doesn't show a picture of what's printed on the back). The Media Polo is plastered with the commercial logos of our sponsors. The 2017 Logo Polo is already sold out in L and XL.

So there is no apparel at all in the Demon Shop that I'd buy. I think they could do more with understated but quality clothing for older members like me.

It can't be either obvious nor signed it would appear. Not a user friendly location.Never really has been....like a secret vault.......oops

Yes, they have input but a lot of it comes down to the manufacturer, trust me.

I agree that blue should be our main colour, the red polo shirts look terrible.

The only thing the manufacturer has complete artistic control over is training and media apparel, but even then the club has to tick it off. NB have a global look they have shared through all of their Field of Play partners (Liverpool, FC Porto, Celtic), however MFC could have easily said no to this.

I do understand the fact you want a simple polo that you can wear golfing and the like, but you take away the branding/logo to others it's just a red & blue polo. It does nothing to promote the club, which is what merch is for.

Branding and logos can be done subtly also. A lot of golfing stuff is...its just not in your face. Id reckon there's a reasonable niche market for what Maurisey suggests .

Me too bb. I buy very little sporting branded gear because it is so in your face. 100% my age I guess but I don't wear "boy racer" type branding that is all over the garment. Simple "BMW' Logo type on one breast  is my go. Sadly I cannot afford a BMW.

I know it defeats the purpose of revenue to the club, but if you want something 'specific' it's pretty easy to get it produced nowadays.

I didn't say I didn't want an MFC logo in it. I'd be quite happy to buy one like that.

There will never be Demons' merchandise available in Northern or Western suburbs department stores because the demand is almost negligible.. that's the reality of supporting our club.

Having had retail outlets in those areas ,selling AFL endorsed products, I speak with inside knowledge

Why?

WHo was suggesting selling our stuff in the western suburbs. Surely you would get some sales by selling Melbourne branded gear in CBD locations where tourist frequent (eg Southern Cross Station, fed square).

And whilst i respect your knowledge on this matter OD surely to goodness we could negotiate with the AFL to allow us to have some autonomy about where we sell Melbourne branded product. I mean it is in the AFL's interest we become more financially  viable. One for a healthy comp but also because they would have tto pay us less equalisation money.

They can put a man on the moon but we can't get our merchandise into a gift store at Flinder Street railway station?  Puhleease.

How about:

They can create an incredibly elaborate ruse that that has fooled the world that they put a man on the moon but they can't get MFC apparel sold anywhere else in the CBD but on Brunton Avenue in the bowels of the MCG?

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
