No doubt, but for every Hamling there's a Ben Newton, Viv Michie, Ben Kennedy, Aidan Riley and Tom Gilles.

Correct, but no pain no gain. You have to keep trying to find a gem and improve the list. We can't stagnate, we are not a GF side.

You have to consider, was he unhappy over there, or was he not good enough, he seems to have a bit of ability so perhaps it was just homesickness.

Some players think they just have to get drafted and then it all falls in to place after that, Mav Weller was a classic example, maybe in a different environment under a different coach and closer to home he will prove to be a good investment.

He moves ok, he can take a grab and his kicking isn't all that bad, he has size and a bit of weight added could make him ideal for AFL.

His grandfather was Ian Cooper a former Saints player and he seems to have, as he says in this profile, a strong connection with them.

Hamling had 3 wasted years at Geelong, without a game and is now in a GF.

There are guys who can play out there, you just have to find them.

Also, as we know too well, some clubs struggle to develop some kids, & some clubs struggle to develop nearly all kids well.  As was our case from 97ish to 2013ish.

The tide is turning for us, & its high tide we grabbed some under achievers & let them grow under Macca & Egan.  back em in.

Lynch with the Crows, also has that form where he failed at the Saints, but made it work in his 2nd gig, after a big kick in the pants getting moved on.

Lamb, lets prepare him.  See what we can make of him.

Rookie List for me. We have some tough calls to make with our list and I don't think you make tough calls on other players to bring in a player with attitude problems.

Let him work his way off the rookie list. If he can show enough character to do that then he might just make it as a league footballer.

But isn't he contracted to the Eagles?

So how do you trade for him,  to put him on the Rookie list and why would he do that if you could?

Haven't seen anything but the highlights tape of Lamb & Watts.

If I was just going on them then Watts would be streets ahead in my mind, injury seems to be the concern.

I trust the professionals to get these calls right.

Unless they delist him and he moves as a DFA.

But even then he wouldn't agree to come to us on the Rookie list, as suggested by the poster, even if that was possible.

But yes, if he was in the draft and wasn't taken, he could be rookie listed.

Ah yes, hadn't had taken into account the rookie element.

Hamling always had an A grade attitude.

Dare I say it, Lamb's AFL career looks... cooked.

    THE CAVALRY ARRIVES by Megg

The injury plague which has beset the Demons 2024 campaign is finally starting to dissipate and with consecutive wins over GWS Giants and a 2-point nail-biter in Adelade, a sense of optimism is rising.  Some commentators are now asking whether the Dees can make finals? A huge surprise with team selection this week when it was announced that champs Olivia Purcell, Paxy Paxman and Eden Zanker would play.   Hallelujah!  The cavalry has arrived. St Kilda missed the finals last season on pe

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.
