Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I know Hawks have a knack to get deals done but even they can't manage a deal on Lewis with the Dee's with Mahoney so tied up and busy with make or break deals like what pick to give up for Hibbered. 12 months worth of planning has gone into this decision so he must get it right!

Coming to the end of week 1, it is gonna be tight to get this over the line.

Sorry osilik ive been patient. But this sort of repetitive, uninformed tosh wears me down.

i agree that he mightn't have been ideal for us, but he came second in their B & F? he can't have been that inconsistent..

Its not about the playing, how good he is, its about his leadership, his attitude, his bravado, & his 'doing his part'.  He doesn't need to be the star, to help us.

It is in what his in his mind, & his spirit, that is 'what is his value'.

For discussion...

Seems there has been a bit of ducks & drakes played with the Tiges & Hawks re Vickery.

The AFL might decide this compo is getting to hard and knock it on the head. What if there is a feeling this will happen before this trade period ends?

How would Freo react to this... could they lose Fyfe next year and get nothing back?

Would they then feel the need to trade him this year?

If Essendon offered say Pick 1 and pick 19 that would have to tempt them if they thought it was 50/50 that he'd go.

I reckon they'll win 10 games or so next year and get maybe pick 8-9 as their first rounder and maybe 9-10 as compo if he leaves.

and the risk compo picks may be removed.

Stevens and Clark have both totally knocked it on the head.  Knew there was nothing in it.

Wasn't exactly "nothing" though:

Hawks list manager Graham Wright: "There was an enquiry, but he's a contracted player and a required player."

What's interesting is i would have thought they'd have said both those things about Mitchell, but now he's off to WCE so that seems to have less meaning if a really good offer/opportunity comes on

I've always thought Wines would leave Port. Whether it happens this off season or not, it just feels inevitable for some reason.

If he did come to Melbourne, how's this for a chain of events:

- Port supporters gloat about Wines over Toumpas

- Port supporters talk up their chances of luring Viney

- Port supporters boast about "de-Melbourning" Toumpas after picking him up

- Viney re-signs with Melbourne

- Toumpas fails and gets delisted (likely)

- Wines leaves Port to join Viney at Melbourne

Mm. Tasty.

Hardly sounds a convincing rebuttal - usually that is code for 'we are open to discussions'.

Hawks still need to get the O'Meara deal done and take 3 picks to the draft.  Currently their picks in 2016 are: 23, 36, 54, 72, 90 and 108.  So they give up a batch of 2017 picks and or players...some water to go under the bridge before they land the the Big O!

If not Lewis maybe we can lure someone else away form Hawks?

And here we go....

Hawthorn star Jordan Lewis’ management approached Melbourne in shock trade talks

"Lewis has spoken to the Demons including coach Simon Goodwin. The move has not been ruled out but it appears that Hawthorn is less keen to move Lewis given the upcoming departure of Mitchell. Lewis chose Melbourne himself and is understood to view the club’s list and potential favourably."

While it is frustrating to get to the end of each trade day and see we have done nothing, if we do something noteworthy, in the next week,  then it is great that we know we don't leak.

That is one sign of a professional administration.

Trade Radio Barrett and Wallace don't seem to be writing this off at all, both saying they're hearing it from a lot of different people so it's a real chance of them backflipping on this one.

as the article Stuie just posted showed, where there is smoke, there is generally fire in the AFL world,

my take is i think Lewis wants to come, the Hawks don't want to lose both he and Mitchell at the same time.

A destination club at last!!

I would imagine a number of Hawk players would be feeling less secure knowing the 'encouragement' Clarko gave Mitchell to go to WCE and starting to look elsewhere!

He is the likely Captain in 2017. That would crown his career. One club player. Why leave?

If they kept Sam Mitchell and got Jaeger right there's half a chance Lewis would see playing time in the VFL. He knew that and saw a chance to jump before he was pushed. Instead they've moved Sam Mitchell on, but if that's happening they won't let Lewis go.

I can't speak for Jordan, but i suspect it's the security, at the Dees it'd likely be a 4 year deal 2 years as a player and 2 as a coach maybe and what's he got one more at the Hawks with no transition plan in place.

The Hawks have also been keen to move the older guys to flanks and allow the younger guys to shoulder the middle a lot more, i am not sure Lewis is as equipped as a Hodge or Burgoyne to move to Half back, so he might be looking at VFL time potentially as well which is why i don't see him as a lock for being Captian

Jordan Lewis saw us first hand when we beat them while they were two games clear on top...  this is why every game matters, all 22 of them, even dead rubbers.

Now he is interested in coming to the MFC.....  I was cold on him coming an hour ago for the simple fact of where does he fit in.. but now I want him to come as it sends  a message to the AFL world, we are no joke anymore.

If it helps to get Hibberd to Melbourne, I'd support Demonland trading Olisik to Bomberblitz.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Carlton

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again headlining another blockbuster at the MCG to kick off the round of footy. The Dees take on the Blues and have the opportunity to win their third game on the trot to solidify a spot in the Top 4 in addition to handing the Blues their third consecutive defeat to bundle them out of the Top 8.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
