You know ... coz Lewis said Hogan signing was a big factor ... take it down a notch in class for Hibberd/Pedo ... oh never mind.

Thanks to both for the explanation.

Instead of Pick 47 in this scenario, would it be worth more to us to try for their next years 3rd round pick?

I wouldn't have thought so as that would leave our draft selections this year as Picks 83 & 84.

Don't ridicule Pedo.

Wasn't ridiculing Pedo, his name was just far enough down the list of re signings to make the line slightly absurd  personally really like the bloke as a person and player. Think personally they asked Lewis to say the Hogan line, good vibes, think the 3 year offer and friendship with Todd Viney main factors

There's no evidence of a high profile player nominating us as a preferred destination, hence you can't say that we've improved our attractiveness.

Collingwood don't have a 1st round pick yet are gunning for O'Meara. There's always ways of getting the deal done, but you have to land the fish first.

The Mounties always get their man

Ive heard his name pronounced 'Hibbaard', I would have assumed the phonetic Hibberd would be correct?

tackling the big issues now.

Well Leigh Montanya is Mon-tag-na. And Yay-ger O'Meara pronounces it Jay-ger.

We'll just have to ask Yibbity Yibbida how to say his name.

It means, "man who disgraced himself by the bad influence of ignoble people but who was able to redeem himself by leaving them and surrounding himself with wise and upstanding people instead".

I'm convinced!

We did shaft them.  Hibberd is a ready made gun and if he had nominated another club with a higher pick, he would have gone for that.

What I would like even more would be for us to shaft them, regularly, on the field too.

Geez I'm pumped for round one. Think I'm going to go hibernate to pass the time. Off season is like a car trip interstate when you're a kid. It's better just to sleep it out.

Joking aside. Hilarious as it was. This is the first time in my rationally thinking life that it feels like we could really go somewhere. The pickups we have secured arent speculative, hopeful (although maybe I am) or stopgaps. They are good players that fill roles we are ready to fill, not desperately need to fill.

You're a smart young man. You must have an intelligent father.

No, that is how you spell and pronounce it.

Just read that intelligence is more likely apparently passed on by the mother. So he must have had an intelligent mother. ;)

Considering the fact that I live with her, I will have to concede. She was intelligent enough to choose me as a partner.

You're right. Let's give Lewis back. I really didn't want to give up pick 66 anyway

My fault, I should have been less ambiguous ... what I meant was that our next year's second pick would become less appealing as a trade in the Hibberd/Essendon transaction if we were more likely to move up the ladder ... which is the case with Lewis onboard.

Wouldn't give Lewis back for anything ...

Hibberd kept a low profile compared to Lewis? No presser from Hibb?

Different kettle of fish I think.

Lewis was a big (and good) news story. Hibb will probably do an interview before 1st round, but I imagine that will be after he has a chance to be able to talk about being with the Dees during pre season. rather than the obvious questions about the other things :)

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
