When your getting dropped to the  development league in your 3rd year of AFL footy you know your in serious  trouble.

There are no comparisons to Gawn or Spencer. They were both playing senior  AFL level at 19 years old. King is nearly 21 and has struggled this year.

You can just about put a line through him.

You do know that he has had a broken/chipped bone in the wrist and is tryng desperately to get back into the Seniors to play finals despite being on limited time in the Dev. team. None of this may have any bearing if he is rerookied next year but he wasn't dropped as you stated.

He was dropped.

He had 3 disposals against Richmond in the VFL senior then had the bye and played development league after that.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that he had a knee injury.

Correct. Ben Newton was one of last week's mystery injuries of the week with a knee complaint. According to the medical report, he's out for a week.

Sam Weideman and Liam Hulett are this week's joint mystery injuries of the week.

How can the Weed be a mystery injury, when it has been widely reported he has a corky?

Agree.

He has definite talent and I hope we persist.

Biggest problem I can see is that he hasn't been able to develop his endurance. Whenever I've seen him at training he seems to be trailing behind and in games he hasn't been able to hold his intensity levels up. He's been in the system a few years now, no doubt about the raw talent but can he develop athletically?

When the club's own website has an article on the team's injured players and produces an injury list without mention of the "widely reported" corky, then it's a mystery.

Melbourne injury list: round 21

Jesse Hogan (knee) - available
Mitch King (knee) - season
Heritier Lumumba (concussion) - indefinite
Ben Newton (knee) - 1 week
Jake Spencer (knee) - test

Weed hobbled off at one stage against the Hawks. No smoke and mirrors here.

All the more reason for him to be included in the injury list but he wasn't.

If you wanted to re rookie him and throw other clubs off the track, what better way than to drop him to the Dev League and show you didn't have a lot of faith in his ability to succeed.  Just a thought.

Dazzle, I think we are arguing over semantics. He injured his wrist against Richmond and was given very limited time in the Dev. league because of his injury. None of this matters as like you unfortunately I too believe that Max maybe looking elsewhere in 2017. If however the Club do decide to keep him on, they obviously see something in him and I would trust them as they are far more experienced than you and I.

Notwithstanding all that, I believe that Max was on notice before he was dropped to the DL. For two or three weeks before that happened, he was also named in both the Casey Senior and DL teams so that he was very much on the border line. Apart from last week when he kicked three goals, he has done very little down there and was overlooked in favour of Oscar McInerney for the seniors in the absence of Jake Spencer.

He's not Gawn but he's got very little time to prove he's not gorn.

Casey Scorpions @CaseyScorpions now

Kingy! He's had a day out. His fourth goal and he pushes the lead past 100 points.

Well right on cue, maybe only DL but quite a performance.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
