Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

yeah I'm not a fan at all. Yet another step from the AFL looking at other sporting comps for inspiration.

I'd love the AFL to put a 3 year freeze on any rule or policy tweaks and just let everyone enjoy the game itself

Don't mind it at all. We could use a Lachie Henderson or Nathan Brown down back at the moment. Two big body defenders who have had finals and grand finals experience.

It would be a massive chop out for Tmac and would let Oscar develope at Casey.

Really?  You don't think that if the von actually wanted to pay a different big bodied defender that Dunn or Garland wouldn't get a run?

Its pretty clear those two are being selected on purpose.

How about Jesse informing us that he'd like to be traded in round 13?

Sh*t idea and lower placed clubs like us would get stuck down the bottom even more. Leave the rules alone and make players stay at one f*cking club.

Il bet you a thousand bucks we won't be classed as a 'Lower placed club' next year...

We will be a destination club very soon.

Not a trade period but I wouldn't be against a mid season draft allowing teams to look at the second tier comps for players to fill certain roles in case of injuries etc.

Maybe increase the rookie list to allow another two players to be recruited mid year for example

Another way to destroy the fabric and meaning of clubs, player loyalty and emotional investment by supporters. The talk and speculation of players moving clubs would become incessant and demoralising. Bad enough now, would be a nail in the coffin of the important connection of player and club. Clubs and players prostituting themselves for money and the hope of instant success. That would be the end for me.

I'd hate it.

Theory: Can be used to help clubs top up in deficient positions die to injuries

Reality: Top clubs and middle of the range clubs will poach the best players from the bottom clubs when they need them most.  Players would love to go to clubs that play finals.

I don't mind the idea of:

- mid season draft of 2nd tier players

- loaning rookie players on short term contacts (from 6 weeks up til the end of season)

- loaning players who have played less than x games (3?) in the first 11 weeks, and haven't missed due to injury

Overeacting much..

Said the poster who thinks we would get Henderson, a bloke playing his first season at Geelong, who are currently on top, after spending the first stage of his career at a hopeless club.

Dazzle is fast becoming the "new" 'Luded...

The Players' Association is all for it, therefore it's probably a terrible idea.  They don't give a flying fruitbat for the welfare of the competition, they just want more money and power in the hands of the players.

If they're going to make this work then players have to be traded without their consent (mid & end of season trade period). If Dill wants to bring these ideas in then he needs to follow through and do it properly, not be half pregnant...

Lets see if the PA like it then 'Ralph'.

Yes I agree Hem... this and anymore drug related exposés of consequence and I am going to listen hard to what my wife says is "not sport anymore, just money".

From the article: 'The AFL last had a mid-season draft in 1993.' I have no recollection of this whatsoever. Can someone refresh my memory? Who was traded and what were the circumstances?

Vaguely remember it, can't recall any trades associated with it

For those of us old enough to remember  - we have had a midseason draft before.

Very little need for panic - very few players left clubs for other clubs. The ones that did were players that were "trash and treasure"  - ( one clubs trash is another clubs treasure). What did transpire is players from the then VFA got drafted in to fill holes caused by injuries. You may see a parting of the ways with a Cloke, if the Pies have no intention of keeping him.

If it is obvious that we are devoid of say leg speed and we have spotted a Casey boy that we think could make a difference then why not ? The other issue is that it could only really be VFL as they would be the only players fit enough and possibly be able to work out a game plan. The game is much more sophisticated than the "old days". What it could mean though is if we think a VFL player could make it with us long term then maybe you get him in on the list mid year with a view to him being gold in the following seasons.

There is a problem with the fixed list size. Do you delist a player mid season  and how would that work as they would be contracted.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
