I assume you were hopping or walking backwards, talk about bulldust

1.95% is card fees if they are there at all, as I said the banks doing, your industry?

As for pre game I was on the footbridge at Etihad at 1.30pm (I had a commitment) and was sat in a seat on Level 3 at 1.42pm ready for the first bounce (I can give you witnesses if you like precious)

Nice touch.

VISA now charges less than 1% processing fee. If the ticketing company charge 1.95% then that's a nice little skim for them. If you have worked in the industry, then the origin of your attitude is self evident.

If you got to your seat on level 3 from the footbridge in 12 mins you must've been running. The rest of us on this thread had to wait for far to long. I have a membership and waited approx 30 mins to get a bar code scanned, and I was there with plenty of time (or what should have been) to spare.

Either get a membership or buy your tickets before the game, I have never had an issue of being late into Etihad and as I stated before I have never missed the first bounce and I have never missed a game at Etihad and the last rew I have usually had a commitment that kept me from getting in until 15 minutes before the game

I have no problem with buying tickets in advance but sadly not everyone is able to know in advance if they're able to attend.

Charging people a fee to print their own tickets out at home (I don't know if this applies to AFL tickets but it certainly applies to other events on Ticketmaster/Ticketek) is a classic example of why I don't like these companies.

Their customer service is poor, their websites crash, and this year their systems at the MCG (and now, apparently, Etihad too) have crashed and failed, causing people to be stuck outside missing the game (e.g. Rich v Carl Round 1, the opening game of the year, some people who had pre-purchased tickets couldn't get in because the turnstiles were down). If they're "prone to error" then that makes my point.

As for my industry, as if that's relevant, I'm a lawyer. Feel free to take a pot shot. Doesn't mean the two ticketing agencies aren't crap.

Again a mistruth, thought you were a lawyer only interested in the truth, Ticketmaster does not charge a fee for Print at Home, there was no crash at Etihad yesterday, I checked, urban myth by some to justify why they don't like the stadium.

Poor customer service, ah yes, the old I will be immediately aggressive towards the person who is going to help me and expect them to be receptive to helping me

Ah yes the technological failure, anything that has a card or database can fail just by the sheer size and complexity, airline checkin, banks, Telstra    if you can put your legal career on hold and come up with a foolproof system you could clean up

Saty, I do have a membership and have since I first set foot in this country in 2005. I don't appreciate the insuation that I am a fat, unorganised, lazy and cheap individual because I have routinely had bad experiences with ticketing and/or leaving the venue after a game.

Not once have I called you a liar and said that your experiences are false. You may not have had poor experiences with Etihad/Telstra Dome, but a number of people clearly have. Can't you accept that without saying it is all their fault? Clearly if that many people have routinely had unpleasant experiences, there is some room for improvement.

Absolutely spot on Maple. Touché.

Pulling the old "it's not me, it's you" line is weak but not unexpected.

Although I don't like Etihad, I will say that I doubt that yesterdays result would have changed if the game had beed played at the G.

It wouldn't have. Melbourne were flat yesterday. Maybe if the game were at 4:40 on Sunday.

Carlton Essendon could have been at Etihad todat.

Thanks for the pot shots. Funny isn't it, that you had a problem with my "cheap shot" directed at a company the majority of people have an issue with but you take two at me?

Anyway, as for the print from home thing as I said I can't say if it's applied to AFL games and it may well not be. But it's happened before and speaks to the type of business the two agencies are running.

Customer service is more than the person you speak with. It's the time it takes to speak with them, the time they take to get the job done, the effort it takes to get an answer to the question you have, the response they provide, etc..

The technological failures have happened at least twice this year, to such a large and bad extent that the AFL put out a statement after the Richmond-Carlton game to apologise for it.

If you like going to Etihad, good for you. I love that you support the club through rain, hail and shine (really, I do). If you haven't had a problem with the ticketing agencies, again good for you. Unfortunately, a lot of us have, and I don't like them, nor do I like Etihad stadium.

There is always a small minority that will complain if they have an issue, the majority of fans made it into the stadium and back out with the minimum of fuss, as I said in another post, whingeing and complaining is in the DNA of some Dees supporters. Must have been to god knows how many games at Etihad, including yesterday, and never ever had a problem. As I was going through the gates at 1.35pm and the line I joined flowed straight through, couldn't see where the issue was/is

He did mention Tickmaster and Ticketek in the same sentence, while Ticketmaster do not charge to print at home, Ticketek certainly do.

As many have said, that's good for you if in fact you walked from the footbridge to your level 3 seat in 12 mins. The largely vocal majority, several hundred in my queue alone, were being delayed unnecessarily outside the stadium. You can't seem to grasp the fact that many were delayed and it was not of their doing. In the process you've taken numerous cheap shots, called posters fat, lazy, disorganised and slow (have I missed any?). Thankfully your manners are not in the DNA of most Dee's supporters.

Had enough for the moment. Agree to disagree.

I never said that chap, other posters said I did, I don't name call, apart from a couple who deserve it, I said I flowed personally into the stadium in under 12 minutes after joining a line at a gate, had my bag checked, got wanded and then walked up the ramps to my seat

There were queues that weren't moving and they were for purchasing tickets, if you have a membership or pre purchase your ticket you don't have to wait

To be fair, the G has had ticketing issues a few times this year now (including last week vs Richmond).

Apparently those issues lie with Ticketmaster/Ticketek (are there any two more useless, over-priced, low-performing, profiteering companies going around at the moment)?

Yep, but it's been a regular occurrence at Etihad.

Saty obviously didn't go to one of our first games at Telstra Dome where the majority of the crowd was locked out until quarter time. It's a disgraceful and pathetic place, but it's no excuse not to turn up. I'm not saying you necessarily, MD, I just get sick of the attitude of so many Melbourne supporters that refuse to go to the ground. No wonder we have such a bad rep. It's in the Docklands FCS, not in Adelaide. It's a simple train ride.

Having said all that, when we turn in pitiful performances like yesterday, I don't begrudge anyone for not going.

Just for a completely different view, I entered with my MFC membership around 1:10pm with absolutely zero waiting time at gate 1 or 2, directly behind southern goals. Even less security than at the G.

Then I exited the ground straight away and walked around the outside to gate 8 where I had even less than bugger all waiting time.  Admittedly the latter was a Medallion entry and I was getting in on a pass supplied by a mate.

So why enter at the first gate and exit straight away? I wanted to register my entry to the ground as an MFC member, before I became a corporate guest / [censored].

Caro on our side tonight on Footy Classified, calling the Etihad situation with us having to play a home game there an absolute farce when the MCG is our home. We already sell two of our home games to NT yet still play at that shithole for a home game (and this year we play the Saints twice there!)

Farcical, but good to see Caro sticking up for us.

I didn't have any trouble getting in to ground, but it is an appalling place to watch football. I was stuck behind the goals at the Southern end, couldn't see the tops of the goalposts in front of me, or the boundary line, or most of what was happening at the other end of the ground. I had one eye on the TVs to see what was going on, but the picture was on a 3 second delay. The speakers barely work, so you couldn't hear the team songs. I'll go again to support my team, but it is pretty much world's worst design, unless you are one of the chosen few sitting on level 2.

It's simple.  If you're a top club getting big crowds you don't play there.  We aren't, we don't.  We play there.

Every club has at least one home game there, even Collingwood, Richmond etc - the Tigers played the Crows there a few weeks ago.
