AFLCA votes, round four: Perfect 10 sees young Demon move up to fourth

Any chance that Viney could be a smokey for the Brownlow?

Paying $67 on Sportsbet.

You beat me to the punch.  Been thinking about this very thing all day.  My father always told me to never bet on anything that can talk.  But I reckon I might put a few shekels on at those odds.  If he can stay fit and we keep on our current trajectory of improvement, I reckon JV can be a real chance.

If Parker and Mitchell keep up their current form, they'll be streets ahead by the end of the year. Dangerfield needs to be a bit more consistent if he's going to challenge those two, but it's early days.

I'd be stoked if Viney finished in the top 10.

No chance, the coaches may notice him but the Brownlow comes down to who the umpires notice and I'm afraid Jack just wont be noticed.

If anything, he'll have a ripper year, will poll well with the coaches and then the umpires will be like ohh yeah I guess he was OK and then next year he'll get votes in games that he shouldn't.

Agreed, he nearly won the B&F last year from 16 games but only polled 3 Brownlow votes.

The coaches love him and rightly so. He'll win the B&F in a canter at this rate.

He's gonna be our Lenny Hayes/Sam Mitchell... people will say he won't get noticed when somehow he'll bob up and get votes a lot. Only thing really hurting him is the fact that Gawn will steal them.

In coaches votes for the weekend, he got the 5 from both, and is now in 4th spot with Jack Ziebell. Says a lot.

One thing he's got going for him this year is he's running with the ball a lot more; the flashier sort of things that get noticed by the umps.

He'll poll well, not sure he's quite ready to win just yet...

Wait till he no longer flies under the radar with those that matter; the coaches. I would say that this will be coming soon and if he can stand up under the pressure of being the hunted then load up.

He was actually paying $12 to lead Melbourne's votes only 2 weeks ago.

That was the bet of the year for mine, unless of course he finds a brick wall that puts him on an injury list.

Methinks it is more like a brick wall, a couple of tanks and a mobile missile launcher ... :)

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int

    POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood

The Dees played insipid, error riddled & uninspiring footy all night and in a lightning delayed match they eventually succumbed to Collingwood by 46 points at the MCG in the final game of the year. Thank God this season is finally over. Bring on 2025.
