Mark Neeld tried to do the same thing to Jack Trengove and i remember thinking the same thing, if someone shows a heap of promise, keep them in that position, it'd be like us deciding to play Clayton oliver off half back.

Agreed, although Trengove has very neat skills. He's stronger by foot than Cripps.

Dale thomas isn't even a shadow of the player he used to be, seems to have lost a heap of leg speed and his kicking is terrible, wouldn't look out of place at the dees.

I'm just glad we got Roos and not Malthouse. He, along with their recruiters, have stuffed them up. Oh and probably Carlton's arrogance at thinking they were close to a flag. In hindsight, should have stuck with Ratten.

Gee, Grundy reads it well. Such a solid player. He'd be the first name on the team sheet every week, I reckon.

Swans v Crows is a cracker. Two points the margin at half time.

gee I am really disappointed in the standard of umpiring, players getting belted and pushed around, dropping the ball all over the place and they let the game go on until they pull one out of the pack. Seen far too many soft frees this round in marking contests up forward, it is a disgrace to see charity goals given like that. Even worse is seeing players bend at the knees and pick up the head high tackles.

And if i hear the channel 7 commentators cream themselves over Stringer again i think i'm going to be sick! Very good player, but gee, give it a rest fellas!

Would be nice for someone in the press to go out on the Launie ground and measure the two kicks using vision of them as reference. Prove those weasels wrong.

Happens every time BT commentates Dogs games.  He's on a constant [censored].

So the umpire just a free kick against Carlton for 'Throwing the ball back too hard and fast'

They have seriously lost the plot yet AFL have the guts to come out and say they doing are a great job.

Geez Patrick Cripps is good. He is a level above these players. Just stiff that he is playing in the 'better be safe than sorry era'. I have both Cripps and Viney in my supercoach, and they both get penalised for playing tough, uncompromising football. Just goes to show how much the game has changed.

Young Charlie Curnow is going to be some player. The way some youngsters move you can just tell they have it. The 'it' factor. Cripps has it, Oliver has it. Lynch, Hogan and Cameron have it. Curnow has it.

Cheney run it out of the backline only to bomb it high - Swans mark and a kick back over Cheney's head and a goal results. Swans hit the front on the 3/4 siren.

Really translates to:

"I can't catch it for [censored] and you made me look silly on TV"

They don't need any help to look silly.  This is why the AFL shouldn't let the umpires be miked up.

Super game.

Just goes to show how even the league is this year.  Well, it is at the minute.

Feel for the Dogs tonight.  Lost Murphy last week, JJ goes down this week and a few others were sore and sorry by the end.  Can't take a trick at the minute, and they would have been thankful that they played the Blues tonight.

Agreed, did a couple of nice things but i don't think he's picked up the pace of the game yet.

Will get 5 or 6.

Not a good look from Ablett either, pushing Martin into an oncoming teammate that was lining him up from a distance.

I noticed this and thought it was just as dirty. Pushing a bloke square in the back running full tilt typifies the kind of stuff the Abletts, Hodges and Mitchells get away with on a regular basis.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
