Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It would happen on every club site Jeff.  It's no different to yelling at them over the fence.  If they let this stuff get to them then they may not be cut out for AFL football.

They don't  read this site, you can take my word for it, and why would they, especially the unnecessary personal invective directed at some

I don't mind reading fair criticism although I would rather read about the really good things the boys do. But please, can those posters that harp on about the the club being no better now than it was in the dark days and keep on saying that the culture hasn't changed please quit. Open your eyes and ears. The "culture" is totally different and the club so much better in all areas. What about having a go at being a supporter and not a denigrator; become someone that barracks for the team and supports the club. It is a lot more fun.

Paul Roos deserves a fair bit of credit for this.. Alot wanted him gone last week for Goodwin after the Essendon loss.

Well if the players do read this site let me say the following:

I am extremely proud of your effort at a new ground for you, against a full strength preliminary finalist, who have several players that cheat by ducking and diving to get free kicks, who had the benefit of more dubious free kicks in a game than I can recall, leading to 7 goals to them and with many dubious decisions again, robbing us of free kicks and even marks.

I don't like saying this, but you were robbed of the win by incompetent umpiring that favoured North all day.

I apologize to HL, who played a much improved game, after I called for his sacking last week and who gave us some run off half back.

To those who made mistakes, I say who doesn't.

I applaud your effort this week and thank you for showing us all, that we have a future.

I look forward to seeing JT, CP5, Oscar, Weed, ANB, Max King and Hunt playing in the team.

I hope you approach every remaining game this year with the same intensity.

After the anger of last week, I am proud to be a Demon supporter again.

Very well Stated

Great effort....keep It up please!

I will bet my left one that players and MFC officials read this site sporadically.

If i were a player i would have a quiet scan every few weeks...

but i am sure you will disagree...

They don't if they know what's good for them.

It can do them no good to read it. For what possible gain?

No player with a winning mentality would bother.

They just can't afford to have their minds polluted with the noise and dreck that we all post here.

So you've never had a block of chocolate in the cupboard that you had to keep until next week, but all week you knew it was there and you just couldn't get it out of your head, and then after a few days you just gave up and ate it?

I joke, but it's human nature. They know people are writing about them and I'd be amazed if each and every one of them had the willpower to resist looking.

The winning mentality is a peculiar thing that most of us do not properly understand.

Anyone with the winning mentality would not even be tempted.

One reason why coaches hate the press and doing interviews is that the type of questions asked interfere with the winning mindset.

When I talk to Hawthorn and Geelong fans, they seem to be able to pinpoint a single time or an event when their teams became powerhouses onfield. I'd like to think in a few years time, we'll universally and unequivocally say the turning point was after the Essendon game in 2016.

I hope so, i feel like we have 1 more shocker coming late this year but after that i would hope the worst is behind us.They just need to grab the wins when they can. This year needs to be about improving win count but when it comes down to it if they play like they did on sunday they will win more than they lose. Yeah we'll lose to the top 5-8 teams playing like that but we should be able to beat most when we bring that kind of intensity.

The Essendon game is all our fault, everyone was talking them up and when they read it here they believed it would just come to them, be ashamed of yourselves.

What about the bombardment of people on Twitter giving them negative comments after that game, do you think they do not read those comments that are hurled at them on social media when they under perform?

A few will read this forum but when asked they will deny it, imagine if Watts admitted he comes on here, comments will be directed at him and people will get annoyed when he doesn't answer and explain why he didn't kick the goal himself instead of passing it to Hogan.

As for the OP, I guess i revert back to anger so quickly because it is a hell of a lot less draining than forcing a positive mindset constantly.

Not been able to post in the last few days due to a family crisis but I was very impressed with the effort on Sunday.  Virtually every valid criticism of the club and players was answered in a positive manner. I agree that we were unlucky not to pinch this one. But I would add we have seen all these turnaround  positive responses from the club after some humiliating performances before. I will not be convinced until we can perform like against North consistently.  Time to be ruthless against an apparently fragile Collingwood and rip their throat out  and leave  them in one bloody mess.  It is not for us to play them back to form. That will be another humiliation.

If I had played a blinder, I would be straight onto Demonland to see if I polled in the DL player of the year and my three word analysis.

Seriously, you'd only be human if you checked a fan forum when you are in form or played a blinder.

Why you think a player would feel the need to scan amuses me

I'm concerned that it is so easy, after a narrow loss such as this, for recriminations to break out on this site.

these usually relate to the last few minutes of a game. So, Watts is under fire for not kicking at goal. Dunn tried to stop a half volley with his foot.  Bugg buggered up his kick to Stretch. RVB missed his easy shot. This ignores errors such as Vince's errant kick to Kennedy in Q1 which was marked by Firrito and led to a goal to NM .But, at other times,Tyson is said to have been useless notwithstanding his second quarter. The coaches must have got it all wrong, otherwise we must have been successful. No-one thinks of many remarkable errors made by NM. Errors were inevitable today.

this game was played in remarkable conditions, yet it was one of the best matches I've seen since 1950 when I started supporting Melbourne. In wind such as we saw today a score of 8.18 to 6.16 would have been predictable, or a greater loss for Melbourne.. It was no match for we the supporters to be casting around looking for culprits.

Melbourne played a first gamer plus third gamer against the most experienced team in the comp. They played on a ground they've never played before. And their best player Max Gawn gave the best  display of knock ruck work I have ever seen in 60 plus years, against the player hitherto regarded as the best ruck in the league. Can anyone recall such direction of the ball to our runners? What about the 8m tap to Tyson in Q2 leading to a brilliant goal?

We are plainly going somewhere and those thrashing around in anger are misguided. It wouldn't matter except that some of the comments are very hurtful, and may play a role in future list decisions

Hi Roosy. Loving your work mate. Don't make selections based on what we say here. Ta.

Given the frequency with which our players have played "blinders" over the past few years, perhaps Saty is right - generally speaking, the players don't read Demonland.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
