I literally saw him hit one target by foot. His kicks are terrible. He would be awesome if he could kick.

Reminiscent of the Toump. We seem to specialise in these types.

St Kilda's run was really top class. transitiioned very easily from D50 . entertaining footy

I've heard ASADA is going to investigate Fyfe for injecting his lips with Botox.

A few poor turnovers so far for each team in the western derby, early days but I can see the Eagles running away with it.

Ah yes the beer cans! They were made of steel then and not aluminium so easy to stand on without crushing them and falling over.

yeah,  they would have about 5 cans under each foot.

simple fun days.   once I grew tall enough. ^_^

So saints and dogs played prelims and gfs 6-8 years ago while we were bottom re building.  And they have both passed us out.

Wtf.

Freo, 25 points at half time. Honestly the most boring team to watch in the AFL.

Fortunately it's become pretty clear that the teams who win premierships don't have these dour, defensive gameplans. Bulldogs will make/win a Grand Final before Fremantle do.

Don't forget fixturing! Essendon, Carlton and Brisbane as 3 of their first 4 opponents. Laughable, really.

The saints were very good, but the Pies were well below par, they put basically no pressure on the Saints running backs, allowed them to move the ball way to easily.

Sorry, I'm still back on page 5 - and I've counted literally 7 posts in a row of you saying nothing other than this. Ie, adding absolutely nothing to the discussion except carping and pissing and moaning.

Bit of both.

Saints pressure was great, they were evasive and speedy, clearly, I mean CLEARLY wanted it more all day.

Collingwood's tackling was woeful, their foot skills on par with the first 3 quarters last week.

I have to say, the Pies look to be a rabble right now.  They have as many quality imports as any team in the league and yet that play like that against the Saints?  Are they that reliant on Swan to lift the side?

I think Bucks needs to be looked at very closely.

I'd say our chances of keeping Jesse went up 20% tonight. Freo are done and dusted, especially once Pavlich and Sandilands go.

And gee West Coast look good when they are up and running

And Sandi will probably be out for a while judging by the injury reports.  Collapsed lung, probably busted ribs.  That makes them a significantly worse side.

Who's to say West Coast aren't a viable alternative to Fremantle for Hulky?

Anyway, I didn't realise Collingwood were next week (I never imagined we'd play them twice in the space of 7 rounds), but if the media pressure on the Pies this week is as great as it was against Essendon's embarrassing 100pt loss to the Saints last year (which was followed up by a typical Melbourne embarrassment), we better be ready for a fight next week. We seem to fair horribly against teams who face scrutiny then have something to prove.

For the same reason I'm desperately concerned if Richmond get flogged by West Coast on Friday night, right before our Anzac Eve match. They will almost certainly face us in round 5 at 1-3. That Richmond haven't defeated us once in the Roos era is cause for optimism though (the only team that holds this honour).

They just looked slow and boring and like the game has passed them by. Must have got their coach from the Paul Roos Coaching Academy. Oh, wait...

Yep. Very, very good point on Collingwood and Richmond.

I think WCE would really struggle to fit Hogan in with Kennedy and Darling, but you never know I guess.

Absolutely pathetic from Pendles there, and after all the publicity about Boekhurst's shameful diving.

Captains don't do [censored] like that.

Pendles was being tackled from behind, then blatantly ducked/nudged his head against the laws of physics straight into the tackler's arm. Umpire immediately paid a free kick to him 40m out directly in front of Pies' goal.

Saints player cracked it, dumbass umpire looked at replay and goes, "yeah, he probably ducked, but it's a free kick."

Great points and I would comment but as a show of respect for Richmond I have also placed myself under a media ban.

Anybody got any idea why the saints weren't trounced in the last quarter of their game?

And why they all seem to be muscled up to almost the same shape?

I am certain that their president will, as always, look at him very closely, with adoring eyes.

If they are lucky, they could get Jesse Hogan, Cale Hooker and Cam Mcarthy by the end of the year. Will be a top team again. Equalisation for ya.

That will depend on the result of Geelong's Dangerfield experiment.

North have clearly shown that relying purely on top-ups and free agents doesn't translate to premierships.

Can we just enjoy seeing their faces rubbed in to the dirt for a minute before you remind us that it's probably temporary?

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
