My wife and I are travelling to Blundstone Arena for the round 3 clash and I need some help re ticketing.

The only tickets available online through the AFL seem to be in bay 11 which is stuck in a forward pocket.

Which parts of the ground provide the better viewing and are tickets usually available if you simply rock up to the ground.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

The club has ticket allocation though they may have none left. Club tix are on the outer wing in front of the hill or somesuch. Hoping it does not rain meself!

Hi gsmith. The trouble is that a lot of the stands are taken by north members or cricket TAS members. The mfc also reserved heaps of seats (apparently they've sold about 1000) in that part of the stand.

There may not be much left to choose from.

I doubt the game will sell out so it would be fine to just rock up on the day. You would probably find yourself standing on the hill. Not a bad spot to watch from but not very comfortable.

Depending on how close to the fence the seats in bay 11 are, they might be the best option. Alternatively you could contact the club and see if they can assist.

Thank you DaleDee, I would be more than happy on the hill, not the wife however.

Is there plenty of car parking available ?

Biggestred, there's likely to be a free metro bus service. Alternatively you could talk to the club about coming to the brunch, they've organised a ferry over as part of that function.

gsmith there's heaps of parking at the park on south street.

http://www.metrotas.com.au/communication/blog/2015/ract-boundary-rider-services-for-afl-matches-in-2015/ - it's last year's info but I'm sure it'll be similar. BA is in the middle of a residential zone and getting in and out is a bugger for big events.

These games usually fill the stadium, so it wouldn't surprise me if there's not much left. I got my tickets from the MFC allocation; I got an email from the club months ago wanting me to organise it. I'm not as convinced as DaleDee that it won't sell out.

Thanks again DaleDee, I did contact the club and although the original allocation was sold out they applied for further tickets. I received a call today offering tickets in the Ricky Ponting stand bay four. Much cheaper than the AFL were offering as well.

Quite satisfied with the result although after Saturday's abysmal effort maybe I should be holidaying at Cape York rather than Tassie.

Parking is terrible for the most part. Dicky little streets for the most part. I go down for the cricket and that's normally a smaller crowd than I reckon you get on the weekend. I'll definitely be on the metro. Its normally is available 2 and a half hours before and after the games.

As for tickets, The dees allocated tix in bay 12 & 13, as well as 'bay' 14 - 19. These are all gone as I tried to grab another for a mate a couple of weeks ago. Most of what is left for sale on the day are likely to be $60 plus if you don't want to stand on the hill...

My ticket (from the club) says Ricky Ponting Stand (in Bay 4 like Graeme mentioned), which is weird as when I phoned to to book it the girl said it was in the seats in front of the Hill. I'm much happier in the Ponting as I won't be looking into the sun.

Is there any open training sessions? Got a Freo supporting mate who has an unhealthy obsession with Jack Watts and was hoping to drag him along to have a photo taken.

The forecast is 14 so probably not much sun, but being on the Western side of the ground it shouldn't be in my vision anyway.

I've got a rental car. I'm flying back to Sydney straight after the game. Ridiculously the only direct flight leaves at 4.30pm and the game finishes at around 3.50pm. So I'm likely to have to miss part of the last quarter. It's beyond bloody belief. Public transport is therefore out of the question. So I really need to park very close to the ground and bolt right on the end or very close to. So any suggestions on parking would be greatly appreciated.

Also wondering if any other Demonlanders are interested in getting together on Saturday night in Hobart for a jar or two and a nosh and a chat. I'd need to leave it to a few of the locals to make suggestions on venues etc.

that still sounds  a bit tight it. why not enjoy the game and then get a non-direct flight

on second thoughts maybe enjoy was not the best choice of words

Advice to the hardy ones supporting our team 'live': Don't confuse low temperature with no sun effect. Hobart is the land of wafer thin ozone layer: if the sun is out, you may freeze (particularly with the wind chill factor at Bellerive Oval, famous for a direct line of sight down the Derwent to Antarctica) but you will also crisp up nicely in half an hour.

Not sure I'll be free as I have a heap of family coming from interstate and the NWCoast of Tassie for the game but if you are after something a little different to drink - a mate of mine has just opened a brewery (shambles) sort of between North Hobart and Hobart. Some very tasty brews they have going on there.

You're right of course on both counts. Unfortunately I have to be back in Sydney Sunday night and can't spend 5 or 6 hours flying back.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
