This is what happens when Dunn isn't selected.

its like Freo having a fit Fyfe and leaving him out of the season opener. Bloody joke to leave a champ like Dunn out

I never thought I'd see someone compare Dunn to Fyfe, but there it is.

I like bold calls. But they do make me nervous.

Oscar v Dunn: I can approve. I like the focus on zone defending and the role Oscar can have it that. And the need for regeneration in our backline. I do wonder how close Garland was to missing out as well though.

No Lumumba: Matt Jones and Harmes instead to provide wing cover. Bugg plays back. I can understand it.

Pedersen: Need the big body against Mumford. I get it. And the marking forward is a positive.

Brayshaw out I understand. Oliver, Harmes and Vanders have the match fitness advantage.

Frost in I get as well, although he needs to step up. If there was one change I'd make it would probably be putting Vanders forward and chucking Stretch in on a wing to give us the extra run.

The fact that he was demoted from VC , left out of the leadership group and then not selected round 1 says something. I suspect theres more to this than meets the eye. I  do trust Roos and Goodwin to steer he club in the right direction. That being said,on paper, we look weaker without Dunny back there.

I'd prefer Dunn over Omac, but listening to the coaches round table and them all saying they played underdone players and regretted it almost yearly I think has resonated with Roos with Dunn and Brayshaw.

What more concerns me is that Casey don't have a proper practice match so these guys won't get the run out they need.

They played on each other in Rd 23 last year. What happened then?

Exactly. I'm sure Dunn will play eventually, Grimes will likely get a game at some point too, but right now for whatever reason they are giving O Mac first crack. I think he's still a little off the pace myself but if that's the case Dunn will be back round 2.

In what universe and on what planet  does Oscar Mc Donald get a game in front of Lynden Dunn???

Answer?? NONE!

I'll Say it!

THIS IS THE WORST SELECTION DECISION OF ALL TIME FMD!!!!

I'm livid, this is potentially a game changing decision

If Dunn is right then he plays, Absolutely no question!

Huge Huge gamble and massive fail in my book!

Oscar Mc Donald FMD!

Making a lot of assumptions and treating them as facts there picket,

I am going to make the huge call and say this will prove an inspired choice and OMAC will have that spot full time by the end of the year.

“Dunny’s probably a little bit similar [to Brayshaw and Lumumba] – he hadn’t played a lot over the last couple of weeks as well.

“So they’re three that from a fitness point of view, we were able to leave out, based on the form of some of our current players.”

He's not ready to play, in the eyes of the coaches. Neither is Brayshaw. Neither is H.

You don't know better than they do. Neither does that other idiot claiming he wont buy a membership if Dunn doesn't play.

Then I'm tipping he ain't right!

Dunn missing this week might mean he plays the rest of the year without a hiccup, he might be 95%, but if he isn't 100% why risk him round one? Especially against a side missing their main three big forwards? And if Omac gets belted early we swing Frost or Pedders back.

Completely forgot the sub rule went.

Wow no Dunn. Ok so some say he may be injured but geez who will kick the ball out? It's a shame that the mfc site arent doing questions because I'd love to know why. He is a stable player down back. I hope Oscar proves me wrong and I hope he kicks better than his brother. But geez its a big call.

I can understand giving Brayshaw another week and also Lumumba not playing because he needs to get his fitness back and do some more running.

But great to see vandenberg back and also Salem. Frost is also a handy inclusion.

Bernie Vince, Jack Viney, Aaron vandenBerg . Good centre line.

Having a look at the gws team. No cameron or McCarthy or Patton. What happened to him. Isnt he over his knee?

Salem and Vince have been taking kickouts all pre-season.

They're both better kicks than Dunn anyway.

Once again we start a season with a swag of injured players ... Dunn ...

I don't know that Dunn is all that injured, or underdone. A senior player like that, with 10 or so pre-seasons under the belt should be right to go on what Dunn's had. He's also named as an emergency, unlike the others in your list.

Let's not forget, Dunn finished behind Howe in last year's B&F. Seems to be much more highly rated here than around the club.

Equally though, with their main big forwards out, is it that much of a loss?

2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
