cortisone usually gives only a temporary relief.  If you are still having problems OD, go and see a good podiatrist and get them to have some individual orthotics made for you. It's not cheap (!) but it changed me from barely being able to walk because of the pain for a few hours after I woke up to having no problems.  After a few years I stopped wearing them and if I get the smallest flare up I just wear them for a day or two and all is well again.  You might try if you can find a generic instep device if the cost scares you, but it may require the individually moulded orthotic to work properly.

Have all the above sue honestly I doubt there is anything I have not tried.

With all this I am good unless I do more than a normal amount of walking. For good exercise  it is on the bicycle.

As the years mount you just have to accept that some parts of your body will never be the same as they were at a younger age.

good to hear Angus should, could, possible have a chance play a VFL game next weekend!

from the squad listed, with VDB, Angus and Dunn coming back we'll need to trim it by 7.  not an easy task

Reads more like the article.

I don't think Hunt or Wagner should play.  Neither has shown they are AFL standard players yet although both have good attributes. I'd be disappointed if we played either in the opening game.

I fail to believe we can't cover a small backs role for this game.

Looks like Lumumba will come back in.  Does anyone know what's happened to White?  No mention of him in the injury report.

Have you tried calf raises? I had this as a footy player (much lower standard obviously) and it completely ruins your season. Calf raises fixed it.

If we get a Brayshaw like injury in the first few seconds don't do it.

For those asking about ANB, covered in some detail in his "Wecome to ..." thread. Has had a succession of minor injuries/niggles, now behind him. Apparently playing at Casey this Saturday.

I'm sure you considered turning up later than the bride (by about 3 quarters)...I wouldn't either.

dont forget to thank six6six in your wedding speech for the pictures of the boys at training.

Just RE: entry. Does anyone know if our MFC memberships get us in free? I heard a whisper they did. If someone could please confirm, that'd be great. Thanks DL. ;)

It is in the bag bb Dees by 7 points.

You're starting to sound like me OD. You're still a little conservative though. I'm going 37 points. Maybe more, but I'm trying to keep a lid on things.

Living in China is more frustrating than following the Dees. Didn't think that was possible but you live and learn. The country has a set of very strange mechanisms for making things happen and nothing can be done immediately. Everything takes "...one or two days, but maybe longer". However, I can get the AFL global pass so I can watch every game live in gloriously slow streaming. The internet here is variable between non-existent - stunningly pathetic. Ah well, as we say over here,"It's China!"

GO DEES!

Be nice to get closer to 4 quarters of "competitive" high quality footy for our best 24 for NAB 3.

Assume we're aiming to pull it all together and wean it back to best 22 in preparation for Round 1.

And before you spend $'s on orthotics do your research on a running shoe called HOKA......fastest growing sporting shoe since they have taken records.  It is loosely referred to as " the broken runners shoe" so for the older athlete who just wants to walk / run etc.....it is quite frankly "unbelievable".   All the benefits of an  elite running  shoe that takes pressure of every part of your body .

A physio showed me a helpful exercise - put a jar on its side, press down and roll it repeatedly under the arch of your foot. Good also for Spurs which often accompany fasciitis.

I think Wagner, Hunt, White, Lumumba and Melksham are all competing for the one run & carry defender's position.  Wagner & White are both rookies and fighting with Mtichie to be nominated to replace Melksham.  I seem to recall that White had a preseason injury - or maybe that's my imagination... anyway the other one to consider might be Harmes whose only real knock at this stage is his kicking.

Should go for as close to best 22 as possible against the saints imo

Out: Hunt, Wagner, Michie

In: Hogan, Stretch, Lumumba

98 rotations in NAB 2.

Thanks for that Stuie I hadnt seen rotation numbers anywhere.

Interesting that these numbers would've also been affected I guess by losing Dunn & VDB during the game

and not giving Stretch a run at all, would be safe to assume every club will be sticking to 90 this weekend.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits.
