Yep. Got there a bit late but it was a very good session. Only JKH and Newton in rehab. No sign of Dawes,Spencer and obviously Brayshaw. Hogan looked concerned and frustrated with a knee issue and left the track early. Hopefully nothing sinister.

Petracca is a beast with an aggressive 'Hogan like' attitude! Stayed on with a group of about 15, including a sharp Trengove, with McArtney barking the orders. Christian was the standout.

Was their briefly.  JKH still in rehab & training one on one with Crossy.  What a luxury to have.  Just shots at goal today (for JKH) with either foot....set shots and on the run. Ben Newton running, running.  No Spencer, Brayshaw sighted.Max King provided the highlight demonstrating his improving foots skills.  He had a low shot for goal on the run but almost missed the ball completely.  Improvement noted in that he didn't trip himself up and fall over.  Received much encouragement (?) from team mates....to take up different sport.  Trengove & Petracca training hard now.

Many thanks for the reports martin and jimcor.  Did either of you happen to notice whether Hulett joined in the main workout, and if so, how did he go?

If Autocorrect were the coach of our beloved Discomknockerated Football Club then Terlich could become Terrifich in an instant.

Jesse Hogan gets some treatment on his calf during training. Picture: Michael Klein

http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/melbourne-prepare-for-expected-hot-conditions-with-match-practice-at-training/news-story/23fa9049a229b23ff2ce64c91d07243c

No need to worry it seems: 'Forward star Jesse Hogan was spotted having his left calf worked on several times throughout the lengthy session, which is routine for the 21-year-old, before engaging a club medico to work on his hip on the sideline'.

On another positive note: 'Young gun Christian Petracca played a part in the entire session - his second full session for the week after an interrupted pre-season thanks to a broken toe suffered while playing backyard basketball'.

Without that caption, it looks like he's done his knee and is in the hands of the trainers, twisted round in pain... nearly spewed.

(Maybe send that pic to Freo... he's not worth the risk)

I'd rather Hoges has nothing sore this time of year, given his history of back problems and the stupid decision to add bulk to his frame. Very glad he's not playing on Sunday.

Keen to see the skipper on Sunday with full strength in his arms and confidence in his neck. Not sure if he'll play back, in the guts or maybe float a bit around half forward and on the wing, but if Viney, Tyson and Oliver are getting first use from Gawn he might just get to bounce around a bit and get some more outside footy. Under pressure he still bombs it long but he's probably our best low and fast kick to a lead when bursting through the midfield so I want to see a bit more of that. Same with Bernie.

I think having Jones and Vince on ball will add a significant difference to our clearance rate - particularly effectiveness.

He's hardly looking like "Plugger", or a beefed up Templeton. I think this so called bulking up has been beaten up a bit and trust the club to know what they are doing with him.

Watching that reminds me of the time Jonathan Brown grabbed the bloke in a headlock from behind then flipped him to the ground and landed on top of him. He subsequently got off because he couldn't be charged with rough play as play had already stopped.

I'm not liking this Hogan "non injury" one little bit.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
