Finally I am a contributor to the Demonland.
Long time reader first time poster.

I think we need to talk about the Dons announcement at their AGM of their intent to change there clash strip.

And the apparent loosening of AFL's laws on the clash strip. Especially since we have our white one and the Bummers are looking to not have the grey or white... but an all red and black clash strip.

I would expect red & blue strip, be gone with white. The club in their wisdom has produced a new red & blue logo... follow suit with the strip.

Posted (edited)

you think for 2016 season or are we waiting till the 2017 year?
surely we were having the similar sort of talks with the AFL about this matter as essendon were?

Who knows what this may look like, may well be a red sash going the other way, kind of like Collinwood's two jumpers, one white on black and other black on white.

Our clash strip should either be a red jumper with navy MFC logo (the intertwined letters ala MCC/Carlton) or a red jumper with navy yoke. Our school jumper was red with navy yoke and it looked great.

Whoever decided red is a "dark" colour is a nimrod.

I'm most likely on my own here, but I couldn't give a rats what any other club wears.  I'm also disappointed with myself for clicking on the link that took me to the Essendon site.

That said, it is clearly offseason when posters are banging on about our clash strip.  It gets done to death every year.

I know the simple option is not to read a thread that I have no interest in, so I will just do that!

I prefer the white jumper with a red V and a dash of blue than the predominantly red jumper.

I don't see white as adding a colour to our jumper, I see it as a logical and progressive away jumper left blank as to not clash.

It might fail spectacularly but I would support trying a baby blue or sky blue jumper.

No way...I still get a bite every time from a Blues mate when I start giving him [censored] about their M&M jumper.

Old dark Navy Blues my arse...

for all those people who used to argue "suck it up" and "you can't beat city hall", maybe they could explain how essendon has convinced the afl to have a clash jumper in just red and black. especially given essendon's current lowly status. i'll be waiting.

Why on earth do you think the EFC have a lowly status at the AFL?

seems to me Gil and company love them.

He has been defending them for the best part of two year.

Add to that Our current jumper alternatives are fine.

So suck it up.

The AFL don't care about us, we have a tiny supporter base, get them shite crowd numbers, bad ratings, etc etc.

FFS, they keep us afloat.

spend five years in the top 4, get 60k members and it will be a different story.

oh but they do have a lowly status, od

they have caused the afl great grief and embarrassment. not only that but taking them to court.

you might think they are soft on essendon, but that is just the appearance given because the afl are just protecting their own brand

you don't really believe essendon are in a great bargaining position with the afl do you?

OMG baby blue - like that pathetic Carltank one?  You must be joking.  I laugh every time I see it, especially if they then sing "We are the navy blues..." More like "We are the powder blues...".

The red with blue logo looked pretty good and could never clash with anyone concerned with clashing with our traditional strip.

The bit I find bemusing is that, apparently, Essendon can have a clash jumper with just red & black, whereas Hawthorn, who are also in the news relating to their clash jumper, reckon they have been told theirs must be predominantly white.

Go figure...!!

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits.
