Don't see how someone can return to somewhere they're not from

He's bought property in Melbourne, his girlfriend lives in Melbourne and he's spent years establishing future career options in Melbourne (with his post-football career).

For all intents and purposes, Melbourne will be his home once his time at Gold Coke Suns finishes. He will be the Treloar of season 2016.

Yeah I have heard all this, I just find it hard to take an article seriously that gets simple facts wrong

I'm not saying he's going to leave, I'm saying whatever happens we are going to cop the media speculation for an entire year between draft periods

Will be hard for us to land either without a first round pick next year. We'd have to trade something out.

wouldve been hard anyway. We're not a 'destination club' remember

Reckon Mahoney showed this year he's pretty savvy at the trade table and ahead of the game, could pull it off.

Matt Jones and Dean Terlich should be an ok trade for them. Done. See, list management isn't that hard.

Weren't both Prestia and O'Meara out of contract at the end of the season?

If one or both of them were to nominate us as their preferred club, we should be able to get the deal done. Maybe trade out 2017 first rounder ... That's providing they don't take the Terlich/M.Jones package :D

Apparently you can't trade future 1st round picks in consecutive years.

we can still use another future round 1 pick if need be and if they want points for an academy hot shot there are other means

here is the rules. seems you can

AFL general counsel Andrew Dillon said the following rules would govern trading of future draft picks:

-       Clubs can trade one year in the future only.

-       Clubs must make at least two first-round selections in each four-year period. If they don't, they will face restrictions from trading any further first-round draft picks.

-       If a club trades a future first-round selection, it may not trade any other future selection from that same draft. But if a club keeps its future first-round selection, it can trade any of its future selections from other rounds.

According to those rules, we could skip the first round until the 2019 draft. We made two first round selections this year.

Hi I'm Sam McClure (the articles source),

You may remember me for pledging if Melbourne beat Geelong today (Round 12, 2015), for the rest of the year I will do the stats in a Collingwood jumper.

Maybe not. I'm quietly confident that Jesse will sign a contract extension at some stage in 2016.

I would trade out JKH, Watts, 1st round 2017 and 2nd round 2016 for O'Meara.

I hope he can still play with his injuries.   would love to have him in rednblue, if he can play to a good level.

Which would help our prospects of luring Prestia/O'Meara.

I reckon if we can get one of the two want-away Suns, we'll be seriously competitive in 2017.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
