Question: Would there be a benefit in paying out M. Jones and Terlich's contracts at this late stage and promoting King and White? We could offer to recruit them both into Casey (where realistically is where they will both spend all their time next year, whereas White may be a chance in getting a run and is better depth). If we did this it may allow us to look at anybody of interest in the PSD or selecting three rookies. At the very least, it would significantly strengthen Casey and provide MFC more depth (c.f. retaining M.Jones and Terlich when we have different needs to when they were drafted)!

Yes and no. Yes, we would benefit by paying them out and No, Viney said on thursday it won't happen.

Greg Clark would be worth the punt as a rookie, good size uses it well and shows some leadership, my question mark on him was hunger because from a young age he has been a standout. He wasn't expecting to be picked up as interest had dimmed so that hunger may be ignited, worth a punt IMO

also was very impressed by Snelling in his game for SA against WA earlier in the season, he was their standout mid on the day, he is not big but like the way he goes about it and has some hardness for a smaller player

Jordan Snadden is another who has talent but in games I saw him play lacked urgency, as with Clark will the rejection make these gifted youngsters realise it's time to knuckle down to realise their dreams

Hope someone picks up a young Canberran by the name of Tom Faul - good kid had a couple of injuries last year - did a syndesmosis (high ankle sprain) then a PCL just prior to draft combine last year and played as an over ager for NSW this year along with GWS NEAFL duties. Will play half back as project player, he is still relatively new to Aussie rules, has an awesome leap (comes from a volleyball background - was aiming for the combine vertical leap record before his injury last year).

I'd be happy with Snadden, boy can run. Thoughts on Hinchliffe, PSD?

It will be someone that none of us mention.

Jarrod hayne?

Gach Nyuon is very much a project. Given our lack of ruck depth, he could be worth a flyer to sit on the rookie list for a few years. King is still a project, why not work on another one and have options if King doesn't pan out.

Really like Hinchcliffe, loves the competative stuff, not as polished as others but hard at it, WA'S best in this years under 18's and showed those more talented what hard work does for you. Only really got serious about footy this year as he was focussed on cricket previously. Would be a good pick up

We need an X factor player.,.. the kind of player who can electrify and tear a game apart and do the unbelievable. Every Premiership team has one, maybe two.

Petracca may be that player... but I'd love us to unearth another Jurrah or Woneamirri type.

I feel a need for speed

Theres no doubt we lack that burst factor. I hope they are emphasizing it at training.

Perhaps play a game of catch Jeffrey.

There's this kid from central Australia... Liam Jurrah, who looks a likely pick! :(

Ahhh Liam I miss you.

Looks like a very interesting prospect

I have no clue if hes on the AFL radar, but I want him. Anyone know how old he is?

WOW!. Super agility, clean hands, great goal sense - and he's already familiar with one of our home grounds.

Played against Ross this year and the guy is a human freakshow. Tore the competition apart and is now tearing the NTFL apart aswell.

I don't know what the Club is thinking re NT but I'd love to see us set up an academy, the talent up there is outrageous.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
