Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Training - Monday 9th November, 2015

It all starts again at 2.30pm tomorrow at Goschs Paddock ~Pre-season slog begins as 10 clubs return to the track

Some Melbourne players were already spotted training last week, but their first official session will take place at Gosch's Paddock at 2.30 on Monday afternoon.

All eyes will be on young star Christian Petracca, the number two draft pick has recovered from a knee reconstruction, and is reportedly raring to push for an AFL debut early in 2016.

Note: This thread is for training discussion and is not a place for posters to demonstrate their immaturity by throwing tantrums and launching personal attacks on other posters - or the players.

Thank you.

Given that it will be only 1-4 year players out there for the next week it will be interesting to hear who the leaders are of this group.

Viney would clearly be one. If I had to name a captain of the under 22s he'd be it.

Hard to believe he's still even in that group. Feels like he's been here for a decade.

I love the way he goes about it. I imagine he would be pretty demanding of high standards in all the youngsters which is a great thing to have.

Almost certain that Viney would be the leader of the young guys. I think he would be a great one too, not the most naturally talented bloke but a strong performer who clearly has high demands on himself and hopefully others. Our young players only need to look at his last season to see how to contribute and have an impact on the team.

I'm interested to hear about Petracca's fitness and running capacity, from memory it was the area he most needed to improve upon. It may also be a large factor into how far Roos pushes him and plays him next year, he often protects younger players earlier in their careers by giving them a limited role.

Does anyone know the rules regarding who can train today? My understanding is that players are essentially forbidden from official training with the club until after their break, which for 1-4 year players is now over..

If a senior player wanted to return to training today, are they allowed? Or is that something that'd be blocked by the AFLPA?

Garland, T mc, Tyson, Bugg, Frost here from the non expected.

Hard to look for all at once but seemingly everyone from the 1-4 group is here.

Tyson with precautionary taping on the left knee.

Petracca tape free. Arrived a touch after the others. Jogging laps with a staff member

Can't make it today, but I'm sure I'll get the training bug again and make it to a few sessions before Christmas.

Looking forward to hearing some updates and reports!

Petracca doing agility drills on the rugby pitch with 3 staff members.

Ground balls, easy push off and marks, and a bit of soccer kicking for the main group divided into 3 stations.

Frost is a huge unit. So is Vanders

Moncrieff from Casey is a big boy.

Oscar mc looks a little thicker. Ben Ken looks so similar to Viney but a touch shorter and lighter.

Running time. Split in to 2 groups.

Hogan drops to last, 2 laps later he's near the front. He's in the a group.

Kent working hard to lead the B group, super stuff. Oscar and Tyson on his trail.

Vanders and Jhk take over the a group. No Tommy Mc in this. So they're the best we've got out there

Kents hit the wall.

Ben Kennedy is a long way back in the b group. Keilty, Frost then Max King behind him

While it's a training report, I just read that Toumpas struggled in to 6th place in the Port time trial.

Was one of our better runners, yet he struggled in the 1st to 4th year players group at a different club.

Does this mean we still have a long way to go? If so, I'm off to the confessional thread.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
