Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He's definitely gotten better and he gives us some sublime moments but it can't be denied that his overall contribution is still way too far and in-between. There is no doubt whatsoever though that his mistakes get heavily magnified, as they do for Dawes, and formally Toumpas. It's the DL whipping boy syndrome.

Yes I agree he can go missing at times, but I reckon with a stronger overall team this year he will look a lot better on the field. Because hopefully our better overall ball use will improve and he will have the ball fed to him a lot better. I also reckon that there is some dislike amongst the players for Jack Watts as he consistently gives good leads and is ignored, don't know whether just poor decision making or there is truly something wrong, don't actually know what it is all about but hopefully it is fixed because he offers a lot. Will be consistent best 22 by the end of 2016.

Don't think that is far off. Perhaps Lumumba for Stretch (bigger bodied and giving concessions for the injury we recently found out Lumumba carried through year).

Also think Pederson offers more than Dawes, however, the powers that be seem to see it the other way.

I have had a look at the games played of the team you listed, which I think will be close, and compared it to the top four from 2015 as they played in the prelim finals. Results show just how lacking we are in experience, but that points to good times ahead if we can keep the group together. Also says west Coast are looking like the most likely of this bunch to have sustained success for the next 5 years or so with a big bunch of 100-150 gamers coming through, that may well be us in another 4 years or so (hopefully sooner).

Games MFC HFC FFC WCE NM
0-50 14 1 1 4 4
51-100 2 4 7 4 3
101-150 4 6 9 10 6
151-200 2 3 0 4 4
200+ 0 8 5 0 5

That is very interesting to look at. But I believe that is why Lumumba has to get a game he adds experience no one else has. Even though he has lost that yard of pace that he used to have at Collingwood (could be because of injury) he is still really damaging off half back and I think with more support from others he will be able to create the over lap run we desperately need. Because of lot of times throughout the year he would turn on the jets and break away but because we are quite slow of half back no one would be able to run with him to create that run and drive from half back. Something Western Bulldogs do really well. Same with NM, WCE, and FFC. If we can generate that run it will give Hogan more one on ones and jeffy more chances to run into open goals and will make us a heavily improved football side.

I'm hopeful that Hunt can have a full pre-season. I know the family and the word was that Roos was grooming him for a HBF prior to a recurrence on his back problem. Has been given a 12 month contract. One issue may be a lack of height across that line unless Lumumba plays.

He's been given a 12 month contract? Are you sure? Do you mean a rookie contract or a full contract?

I'd rookie him, but I understand his potential so wouldn't gripe too hard if its full.

Agreed, Maybe shift Salem to the wing and Lumumba onto a HBF. Takes out one 0-50 and adds a 200+. With that changes it looks as follows (I stuffed the formatting and it didn't pick up N Jones as 200+, hence there are now 2 in that category).

MFC HFC FFC WCE NM
0-50 12 1 1 4 4
51-100 2 4 7 4 3
101-150 4 6 9 10 6

This is the side I agree with the most.

However, Lumumba will replace Stretch on the wing.

12 month contract ie his contract has been extended. My guess is that Roos likes his pace and disposal.

anyone can edit wikipedia Nasher, so don't believe everything you see there.

The MFC site has the correct spelling (you'd expect). Then again, you may just be trying to get a ride out of me?

I'm not winding you up mate. He was quoted on the MFC website during the year thay that is how he spells it. Believe me, I'm anal about spelling people's names right and wouldn't spell it like that unless I was sure.

A handful of players in rehab have also endured a tough session, including new rookie Aaron vandenBerg (note the spelling he spells his surname with a lower case v and a capital B all one word).

I like the look of 200cm Max King. He's a forward/ruck. Played 8 games for Casey this year kicking 13 goals and taking 30 marks (15 contested). In fact, he's a really good mark and has neat kicking skills for a tall.

He's not quite ready. 1-2 years. Plays all of next year as a 20 year old.

Callum Sinclair came from Port, is 26 and has played 29 games. Sydney were very keen to take him off West Coast's hands. Like King, he's not a number one ruck, but more a forward/ruck.

It can take a while, but Max is tracking exceptionally well.

I honestly forgot about King when I posted. I think he's a good chance to debut next year. Still very raw looking but has good goal sense. Could be a third rookie list success story for us. Whether it's him or not we will need a 3rd goal kicker in 2016 if we're gonna get anywhere, a decent target whether it be Watts, Pedersen or Dunn

Not anymore.

It is Goodwins team now and he will shape the team for the big takeover.

Dawes will be on the scrapheap.

Agree. He took ages to show any sort of form last season and I don't think we can wait for him to find form/fitness, we simply have to pick a disciplined team who can do the fundamentals and get a score on the board. Dawes drops marks and regularly shanks kicks and it was evident from the R2 GWS game that his mind wasn't on the job

This thread is 'best 22' not 'most likely 22' though...

You can um and ah over Pedo v Dawes but it's six of one and half a dozen of the other. It's a hole in the side that needs to be filled.

For the time being, Hogan likes playing with Dawes and he's first choice. You can place Pedersen there but it won't change the fact that Dawes is clearly ahead in the pecking order.

Ok, mate.

2016 Rd 1 - if Dawes is fit he is playing for the Dees.

But continue thinking that Goodwin doesn't like him with zero evidence.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
