Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Watched the Melbourne v Hawthorn game today on FOX where Pedersen kicked 3 and Dawes did absolutely bugger all except run his mouth couple days before the game. I think this draft period its a no brainer that we must recruit a key Forward. If Pedersen had not gotten injured i have no doubt Dawes would have been dropped to Casey.

Personally i think Oscar Mcdonald is a smokey to become a key forward. 197cm tall who is agile and can take a strong mark also. Lets not forget he played all his Juniors at th3 Rebels as a key forward and impressed straight away. While he still has a long way to go and a body to build up i hope they trial him up forward over the summer.

What, because Dawes has been dropped for Pedersen so many times, as opposed to vice versa?

Have they ever been dropped for one another? They played together a lot last year but it's different now we have Hogan in the forward line. I'd take Pedersen due to marking, versatility and disposal although he's not perfect either

I think one important factor some of the Pedersen lovers are forgetting is the reduced interchange cap and no sub rules.

Pedo will be 29 when next season starts, and has a poor tank. This is where a (fit) Dawes has it all over him.

The Pedo myths are getting a bit silly now if some think it's so clear cut that Pedo will play and Dawes will be dropped. That hasn't happened once yet.

Dawes has never been dropped for Pedo, let's put it that way. Pedo has been dropped plenty a time.

They mark the ball at almost exactly the same rate, but Dawes has always had the better defender(s) on him.

Pedo is not more versatile, not saying Dawes is super flexible, but Pedo doesn't have the fitness or shape to do much else.

Disposal will be an interesting one as of next year once we're not as boundary hungry. I think Dawes will edge Pedo in that area once it comes to "useful disposal", but it's to be seen.

Look, I'm not saying Dawes is a gun and Pedo is a spud, that always seems to be the way on Demonland, but to me, their output and skills are similar but Dawes' has the edge with his fitness, leadership, game knowledge and ability to actually run for a whole game which will be vital next year. I see Dawes as the guy who can train the forward line better as the guy who takes over from him and Pedo, whoever it ends up being, develops.

The Dawes deficiencies are clear cut. Can't mark, can't kick. Exactly what you don't want from a key forward. Pedo is no superman, no one on here thinks that, but he can take a strong mark, is a neat kick and can pinch hit in the ruck.

And here we have a post that illustrates that exact points I was making.

- In Demonland you're either a spud or a star. Apparently Dawes "can't mark, can't kick" and is a spud. Shallow analysis.

- Also, here's some more Pedomyths... He's not a strong mark at all, he's a ducker who has only taken grabs by being unfit and hugging the boundary where he strikes it lucky. "A neat kick" who has only ever had to go long to the boundary, and apparently can "pinch hit in the ruck"... Meaning he can stand around in a ruck contest, but actually provides about as many useful hitouts as Dawes does in that situation.

Pedo was puffing by 1/2 time last year, how do you think he's going to go next year being 2 years older, having less spells on the bench and not being able to be subbed out?

Will be very interesting to see what transpires with this Key Forward post! Oscar Mc Donald is still very raw and more a "Rangy" type Not all that confident he has the size to fill the key CHF post. Like what Pedo brings to the table with his competiveness , but still think Dawes takes the second best back which Im not sure Pedo would! Jack Watts is the interesting one here a a floating High forward he improved last season but needs to show much much more lest he will definately be shown the door in 2017 methinks!

The hidden factor is who we pick up as a tall with eiether pick 3 or 10?

A versatlie big might find himself thrust into a key role early.

Also one outa left field,... Frost as a KPF a possibility???

Dawes is clearly limited by his fitness and shape! How is Pedo not more versatile? He can play in defence and ruck. Dawes can't get separation on defenders and when he does he's still not a good mark. When he has the ball up the ground he's poor at finding targets too. Whatever 'leadership' you think Dawes can give the forward line it's not working on the field. We don't score enough.

Anyway, Pedo's arm injury gave him plenty of time to work on his fitness

Completely disagree on Pedersen. No one is saying Pedersen is a star at all. But he is alot better then Dawes simply because he can actually mark the ball and alot more versitile as he can also play down back. Pedersen is a one grab mark and well Dawes is..?? No coincidence that melbourne supporters call him concrete hands. Personally i think Dawes is one of the worst key forwards in the game.. he is a laughing stock because how big he is yet he can't do the most basic skill trait that a key forward needs and thats marking the ball. Pedersens career stats actully outweighs Dawes even though he has about 50 games less experience and i have already posted the evidence a while ago.

And spare me mate your calling him a ducker that based on an incident 3 years ago.. every AFL player has done it even Luke Hodge has mentioned that he did early in his career that copped an all mighty spray from Clarkson

We'll just agree to disagree. For mine, Dawes provided as much output on one leg as Pedo ever does. So next year, I expect Dawes' superior tank see him keep Pedo out of the team.

Not sure how you put our poor scoring down to being the fault of Dawes' leadership when our clearance and inside 50 rates are still terrible though.

Yawn... You're sounding like a typical facebook poster now. Dawes not being a great mark doesn't mean Pedo is. Neither are good marks and their stats a practically identical. #PedoMyths

Dawes is a laughing stock is he? Geez mate, you're really going hard on the opinion as fact line aren't you? You're right, premiership CHF, must be a total "spud" and probably a "[censored]" too hey? Isn't that what you hysterical overreacting facebook types usually post?

Here's an actual fact for you, Dawes has never been dropped by Roos. Pedo has, many a time.

But you know, don't worry about what Roos thinks, it's more about your opinion that he's "one of the worst key forwards in the game"....

Have a cuppa mate.

For mine... (We can include Parish right? He's a lock!)

B: Jetta, Dunn, Garland

HB: Lumumba, McDonald, Salem

C: Tyson, Vince, vandenBerg

HF: Brayshaw, Dawes, Kent

F: Watts, Hogan, Garlett

R: Gawn, Jones, Viney

I/C: Melksham, Petracca, Frost, Parish

Emerg: Bugg

With the new interchange cap i don't think you can play 2 rucks still.

Frost can be the utility type swingman who does ruck backup, Dawes can do some too.

Watts to settle as a 3rd forward. Great set shot, and our best player for goal assists, play him where he can do some damage.

Petracca being eased in, same with our (probable) pick 3 Parish.

This is going to be really interesting to watch 'stuie'...I tend to agree that 2 rucks are still too much to carry.

Why can't I connect a forward who doesn't kick enough goals to our lack of scoring? Hogan and Garlett can create chances out of nothing. Tom McDonald is a star compared with Dawes when put inside 50. Good forwards get in good spots, create chances. If Dawes could maybe kick 1.5 goals a game or be a decent ruck some of his shortcomings could be excused.

Ok, maybe sit down for this, it may come as a shock to you seeing you're still stuck in 1995....

Not all forwards are there to kick goals.

I know, I know, I can hear your gasp at this frightening future, but rest assured, if you watch some footy next year you will catch on eventually.

(Not just that, but if you happen to catch a Melbourne game maybe take note of where Dawes plays)

Oh also, you may come to realize that how many times we can win the ball in the middle and then get it inside 50 coincides with how many chances we get to score.

Ahh the old he is a premiership player so must means he is a gun.. little fact for you, Shannon Motlop Mitch Morton Trent West Steven Armstrong and Jonathon Simpkin who are all spuds that get carried through superstars in their team.

Dawed is a laughing stock because he is a dumb [censored] and makes the simplest of errors. Didn't he win some embarrassing award from that fox footy show for spudding it up somehow? Lol.. Collingwood fans were and still laughing at us for how much and the money we gave up for this dinosaur.

Doesn't really matter anymore anyways it will be his last year in 2016.

FMD now i have heard it all!! Imagine trying to explain this to Tony Lockett or Garry Ablett. They would simply tell you are absolutely out of your depth, which you are really.

Key Forwards are there to provide a target and and an Avenue to kick to. While some forwards will draw opponents away to open up space, they will then try to wheel back around and become another option closer to goal. The smart forwards CHF still kick goals..

Dawes simply does NOT kick enough goals for some who is a premiership player like you harp on about.

Answer me this? When was the last time he kicked 4 in a game?

We recruited Dawes to fill a hole we no longer need him to. He's had 3 years, he's had a lot of time to improve but we still don't score enough. What's wrong with trying something new? I said some of his shortcomings could be excused if he kicked more goals, not that kicking goals is the be all and end all of his game. Dawes is a part of the problem of our slow tempo and poor delivery inside 50.

If I thought our play in the middle was a bigger problem then I'd be badmouthing Vince, Jones and Viney.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
