Just a thought - no rumours.

Could or should we trade for pick number 1?

Weideman might be a perfect pick up to play CHF in front of Hogan. If we're lucky they could develop together and be the backbone of our forward line for the next 10 years.

What do you guys think? What could get it done?

No chance. The Blues won't give that up unless we give them an unbelievable deal... which we would be silly to do.

Weitering is this years #1, not Weideman (expected to go 6-12ish)

Despite playing well forward, Weitering is mainly seen as a Key intercepting/rebounding backman.

More importantly there's no way Carlton would trade out this years pick #1 as they are in love with Weitering

On that topic though, we could trade for pick 2 (Schache). Maybe package up our pick 6 and Howe (If the Pies deal falls over). Or Pick 6 & Dawes. Or Pick 6 & an early 2nd rounder (Toumpas trade).

But I think we can get Weideman at Pick 6, who is more than capable of being a better player than Schache. If Weideman wasn't injured for most of the year, everyone would be talking about him as pick 3 imo.

That kids dad played for Brisbane and he desperatly wants to go there, after Brisbanes problem with retention I can't see them giving up pick 2

It will give you [censored] nightmares...

Shudder.

Note: Yes, I am aware it was the 2nd pick overall...

You have to be kidding me with this! His rookie season was impressive and was a sight to behold. He was a heisman trophy winner in college and was named pro ball and offensive rookie of the year in his first season. RG3 was a lock to be a qb1 anywhere in the league. He is now broken down due to some unfortunate injuries, but was always worth trading up for on draft night.

You want a real QB bust? JaMarcus Russell really gives you nightmares!

The Rams seem to know more than you do.

Honestly, if RG3 isn't a bust, then no-one is. Tebow won a Heisman, he also has been to the NFL Playoffs...how is he in the pocket? How are his mechanics? And he was taken at 25 in the first round...

RG3 is an absolute bust at 2.

And as someone not too partial to racial epithets - couldn't happen to a nicer team.

Tebow was never going to make it in the Nfl. Florida ran a very college like offense that isn't seen in the nfl. Also he had a fantastic offensive line in college. Completely different player To RG3, who was drawing comparisons to warren moon in the lead up to draft night. The rams simply couldn't afford to draft another QB because at the time they were still trying to justify the Sam Bradford selection by keeping him as their guy (another QB decimated by injuries and a questionable offensive line) The Rams made a sensible trade based on their needs, but if they didn't have Bradford they would have taken RG3.

I fail to see how an injuries to top picks after they have been selected as a pro bowl QB classify as a bust.RG3 goes down as a "what could have been" if his knees weren't absolutely destroyed. A real shame, regardless of your feelings towards Washington (I don't like them either for the record)

RG3 still has a career passing rating of 91.4, sure it's not Tom Brady like (96) but RG3 sits higher than Brett Favre (86) who was a legend of the game.

RG3 could flat out play before getting hurt.

RG3 was flat out one-dimensional and while that was a great dimension, he didn't want to improve and run a proper offence - we are getting a bit Inside NFL here but that trade was a terrible decision by Snyder and set up the Rams: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/rams-send-players-acquired-in-rg3-trade-out-for-pregame-coin-toss-223532066.html

My point isn't that bad luck should be foreseen but that trading up to get the top pick (or the 2nd) is frought because of what you have to give up to get it and if it doesn't pay off you will get people who will say you screwed up.

It's not captain hindsight either, I remember plenty of people say to not do it but Snyder wanted his toy and now he can play with it himself, the team he owns certainly isn't.

I just wish we had have used pick 1 & 2 on Scully & Butcher back in 2009.

Then our midfield and our forward line would have been sorted for the next decade.

Howe and 6 for pick 1

Howe can stay in VIc still and Carlton will offer him the same money as the Pies youd think

We need to brainwash him into wanting to play for the Blues.. any psychics here?

Carlton would tell you to eff off.

Why would they do that?

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
