is that necessarily an argument not to do it however ? Just asking

The Roos way us to bring in players to fill specific roles. I would have thought we would go this way. Possibly Goody and Macca prefer to hone some sapling into that player. Just a thought.

Can we temp fill the assistant fwd role til a newbie develops ?

We're not going to perfect a side in 2015/2016

All that said id be surprised of we have a decent pick if it doesn't go to a 185 sized prototype style mid who a foity talent first...athlete 2nd

No, go for it if he is the best talent - just a statement of consistent fact - tall forwards invariably take a few years to be ready for AFL footy.

Just on trade radio,

Melbourne are in negotiation with Suns to guarantee a draft pick that will give us Darcy Parrish.

Why do we seem to be so red-hot for Parish? Anyone?

Probably the only mid in the draft (apart from academy selections) that doesn't have any glaring weaknesses.

Inside/outside type with good skills and excellent vision.

They think he is a poor player and dont want to spoil their record of picking poor players with early picks!

My wild guess is he is a good player.

just a guess of course.

Please explain...or at least, elaborate.

What seemed a year ago. The Suns and Dee's were looking at trading Howe and pick 6, for Pick 3 and another pick.

Those numbers weren't quite stacking up for the Suns.

Now that the Pies are on the scene, they may have re thought the numbers, so they can get Howe.

They are talking to Dangerfield on Trade Radio at the moment.

Time to tune out.

Patrick has spoken very well and I'm better for understanding him as a person for listening and tuning in.

For those of you who have or haven't travelled through Moggs Creek, it's a great spot despite no shops, milk bars or pubs. If you've travelled down the Great Ocean Rd, Moggs Creek is only a few kms past Aireys Inlet. In fact, if you blink you might well miss it if travelling down the coastline. Beautiful part of the world, particularly on a day like today with blueskies. Hard to believe a star of the AFL spent his childhood there. He and his extended family originate from Moggs Creek. I dare say the Dangerfield's would have a fair slice of Moggs Creeks population.

That sounds almost as quaint a town and as wonderful a coastal community as Scarborough, WA. Home to the Hogan family dynasty

Well, the 'bleeding obvious' has a trade veto and doesn't want to go to GC...

Does he get a choice?

Surely Melbourne deserve silver than pocket full of marbles.

Well, if the team offering silver cannot get him to agree - we won't get silver.

He can veto any and all trades, as any player can.

Yeah but then at least in a few years Jesse will have a mate- what can we do now? There's no guarantee we can draft one in and our war chest might as well be filled with Monopoly money.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
