Trade Radio Discussion

Some notes from Mahoney's SEN interview today:

- Nothing new on Melksham. Wants to come. We need to work out a deal but I got the impression Melb and Ess were close on an agreement.

- Financially there is a gap between the Howe contract offered from us and what he wants. (Nothing new).

- No discussions with Luke Parker were made. Was just rumours.

- Dawes and Watts. Didn't give a definitive answer either way. Sort of said that if clubs are interested, the club will look at it. But MFC players atm, yada yada.

- Petracca at the club today, keen and ready for pre-season. Won't go straight into full training straight away but not too far behind.

- Toump looking at other options, will know more come next week.

- Bugg type of player that will help us. Didn't sound like it was locked. Informal discussions with GWS about him.

A nothing interview to be honest.

Wish they'd asked questions about Treloar and Lennon.

Perhaps Schwarta knows something is brewing and didn't push it... (or perhaps not).

It cracks me up every time a player says "I want to be traded to club X" and their existing club says they are not going to trade them.

As if their existing club is going to make them stay if they don't want to be there.

Ah gotta love the trade period and it hasn't even started yet!

It's gunna be a long couple of weeks.

It's not about making him stay.. Aish is out of contract, he isn't being forced to stay by Brisbane with those comments. What Brisbane are doing is making a stance, staying if we draft you, don't expect in 2 years time to just nominate where you want to go and force us to trade you to that club when in turn we will get unders for you...If you want out, you're going to have to walk through the pre season draft or nominate for the national draft and risk being picked up by another club.

I really hope Brisbane force aish into the draft, it's becoming a bit of a joke these young kids picking where they want to play, the AFL Needs to change the rules so you can't nominate club of choice unless you have served at least 4 years, I understand kids getting home sick but aish is from SA So he can't use that excuse going to collingwood, Brisbane will lose him for nothing but I think it's a risk they need to take

Highlights:

Jake Carlisle wants to be a Saint. In an exclusive interview this morning with NAB Trade Radio, Carlisle told us that he'd agreed to a "lengthy deal". This afternoon though, the Saints confirmed there was no way they would trade pick 5 as a direct swap for Carlisle, with the two clubs set to head to the negotiating table to get the deal done.

James Aish has officially requested a trade to Collingwood. His manager Liam Pickering telling NAB Trade Radio tonight he wishes to come to Melbourne and play for the Pies. However, the Lions say they have no intention in trading Aish.

Ben Lennon's future at the Tigers remains in limbo, with the Tigers forward still yet to sign a new contract. His manager Anthony McConville telling NAB Trade Radio that while he wants to stay at the Tigers, there was still a lot to work through before that happened.

Unrestricted free agent Jarrad Grant remains out of contract, with the Western Bulldogs yet to offer him a new deal, despite playing his best season. His manager Anthony McConville telling NAB Trade Radio it was disappointing the club hadn't yet offered him a new deal.

There is plenty of interest in the AFL circles for Carlton forward Levi Casboult. While he is contracted for next season, his manager Anthony McConville confirmed that he had received a number of enquiries from clubs regarding his services for next season.

Hawthorn's Ryan Schoenmakers says he wants to stay at the Hawks, despite growing interest from rival clubs. While he is out of contract, Schoenmakers told 5AA he hoped his management could sort out a new deal to keep him at the Hawks in 2016 and beyond.

There are reports that Hawthorn has emerged as a late contender to secure the services of Chris Yarran. There were reports that the Hawks spoke to Yarran's management this week, in a move that could spark Richmond into action.

Something big is brewing guys........... not PD

Next week will be big.

Either something huge is brewing or it will be the most boring trade period ever for us.

No in between.

It really pisses me off that the Saints, 1 spot below us, are successfully poaching quality players and it looks like they won't have to give up pick 5 to do it. Hoping we can go something like that. But I just don't see it. Guess it's just just Milkshakes and Buggs for us..

Carlisle is no A grader and he isn't a player we need. He can be an average player and the Bombers will want plenty for him. Clever of us to stay clear.

Reminds me of when we got Clark for pick 12 in a compromised draft and we're all singing hallelujahs.

Sometimes things work out, sometimes they don't.

And how would you feel about it if he nominated MFC?

The only way to fix this is to lengthen the first contract to 3 years. That at least gives clubs a chance to manage these players around homesickness and getting them accustomed to the clubs environment and culture.

Aish however is a different animal altogether. A South Australian boy who wants to leave Queensland for Victoria and specifically nominates Collingwood as his preferred club.

Something still isn't quite right at the Lions. Maybe Leppa himself will be the next to leave...

Your becoming demonlands biggest Overeaction poster.. Jake Carlisle isn't A grade at all.. in fact to me he is overated. And please dont mention Freeman who has played a total of 5 minutes of footy in 2 years.

If we pick up Bugg Kennedy and Melksham and keep pick 6 this will be a massive win for us in my opinion.

How do you know there is someone big we are chasing behind the scenes? You get sucked in way too much to whats written in the media.

Relax

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
