Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

it would be so Richmond like if they gave up their 1st rounder in 2015 and 2016 for Treloar and he then had a career ending injury

Richmonds first round draft picks have been a proven success since Hardwick too over.

I think you mean 'Melbourne like'...

Conca and Ben Lennon haven't been anything to write home about

To early to call on Cory Ellis

I will give you Vlastuin and Brandon Ellis

Under the new FD I think we have nailed it with Salem & Brayshaw

Treloar is a similar player to Anthony Miles. If Richmond were to pay overs for Treloar, we should ask the question to Miles.

I think MIles is a decent player, you know exactly what you are going to get. He is hard nose, and Richmond might be open to trading him out in order to retain their 2016 first selection. Whether or not Miles is worth our first rounder is probably another question, I am unsure, that would be something we'd need to weigh up. I would say on last years form, he is worth our first rounder, but he has been a bit off this year.

Treloar is in a whole different league to Miles, and has so much more speed, skill and X factor.

Another bizarre comment by you..

Treloar and Miles are two completely different players.

And first of all why the hell would Richmond trade out one of their up and coming midfielders who has been ine of the important member of the team thats driven this club up the ladder. Go watch his game against Hawthorn and you will see he was the best midfielder on the night.

In the Hun today (or yesterday) it says if Treloar leaves it will be for the deal that best suits the club.

It would be nice if that's not all bluff as it would bring us right back in the picture and unfortunately Essendon (until they offer a second round pick) and Carlton.

Pick 5 and Jeremy Howe would be a deal they'd have to consider surely. I reckon he's going to the pies or Hawks though.

Yeah i'd do that in a heartbeat, but he doesn't fit the Roos mold of big midfielders

If thats the case then why is Jack Viney getting a game..

Sheesh i know Roosy likes big bodied midfielders but if the opportunity came that Treloar would be available Roos would be the first to welcome him with open arms. He is a future brownlow medalist.

As i said in my post, i'd do it in a heartbeat. Treloar would instantly become our best player. Roosy just seems to be infatuated with big-bodied midfielders for some reason.

Once he increases his running capacity and settles into the AFL environment a bit more, i reckon VDB could be this for us.

It's apples and oranges though, as i'd have a better chance of winning the lottery than Treloar coming to the Dees.

This is our biggest problem, the club desperately needs a signing of this calibre.

Not that it matters but any idea of who he went for pre AFL career?

Prestia was a keen Dees supporter.

Again I know this doesn't matter. Its been nice watching Harmes play for the club he loved as kid.

Often doesn't seem to matter though does it unfortunately? Was surprised that Prestia allegedly turned our advances away.

If I was playing at another club and had the opportunity to join the Dees I would like to think I'd do it in a heartbeat!

Its hard not to argue after watching Mundy just bully has over the weekend.

I doubt this 'Roos mold' people talk about is really much different to what any coach thinks. If you had two players similar in clearance skills and contested pill but one was a foot taller and can compete in the air it would be obvious who we/anyone would chase.

Still, if someone whos a tad shorter but a really good player comes available, of course we would come a knocking. Just like we did with Prestia

Carlton I think, but looks like a Collingwood supporter.

It wouldn't surprise me if we didn't already gave Prestia signed.

Richmond-like?

You sure you don't mean Melbourne-like?

(*quickly ducks for cover*)

No. Melbourne-like would be signing a big deal and then turning out to be the biggest bust in free agent history.

For a career-ending injury or other issue to be "Melbourne-like", the player would need to be in the midst of or having just had a career-best season. Think Jakovich, Jurrah, Clark, Tingay, etc etc

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
