Not sure Collingwood's drafting has been that good in the last two to three years. Maybe Taylor was the brains behind it all? ;)

I admire what Freeman did for Collingwood in his years there.

A contribution which won't be matched in a hurry.

Saints supporter mate of mine at work who's pretty ontop of a lot of things happening there reckons their plan is to trade Pick 5 to Gold Coast for Pick 10 (Dixon trade) and Gold Coast's 2nd round Pick 22. Will then trade Pick 10 for Carlisle and their own 2nd round Pick 24 for Freeman, still giving them Pick 22.

Yeah, always best to keep it simple.

He is fast but the pies have already ok'd his trade according to the Herald Sun. Clearly there is more to the story if a club drafts a highly sought after kid, he remains injured for two years and then you agree to a trde without a whimper and before a firm exchange offer has been given by the destination club.

so, he's a free man now?

the pick was sound you can't predict how a person body holds up, you can't predict how greedy someone will be, when he goes to the saints he will pull another hammy off the bone

Who knows what they might do when they became freemen, crime has gone up

Dude seriously.. quit the pathetic drivel

Geez players are bloody entitled these days.

From the sound of the article Collingwood really low-balled him. Plus I think he wants a fresh start due to on-going injuries. I don't blame him to be honest.

This isn't about greed. Collingwood offered him a non guaranteed contract, St Kilda's offered him security.

I know which one I'm taking. Especially if the inferior contract offer has come from a club that has mismanaged my injury and possibly contributed to my not playing in that 2 year period.

Prior to that draft I rather liked Freeman. I still think he'll make more than a decent player, IF he can put away his injuries. I think StKilda are simply doing what they must.,......go shopping where they can and try to pick up a bargain where possible. They as a list have some work cut out for them over the next 3-4 years..a bit more than we have.

Im not that up on the details but if as CJ suggests there were distinct differences in the offers well.....would explain much

All in all we've got Salem....and I'm rapt !!

If and its and if, Freeman were injury free and fit, I'd take him anyday of the week over Howe.

Howe is a plodder who played it safe this year, not interested in having players like him on the list.

Nah we're not trading on potential anymore- that's the old us. If we trade Howe I'd prefer it to be for a proven performer or I'd rather keep him. Put him on 400k a year and a 2 year contract and see how he likes those apples.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
