Thanks for the service Russian. Got the best out of himselfand was a real servant of the club.

If the Catsdo land themselves Danger,S. Selwood & Henderson this off season, i can see them picking up Russian as insurance for a premiership tilt as their ruckmen can never stay on the park.

Its not often a Demon makes the AA team. Mark Jamar did it against the odds. Well done Russian on a fine career, and for being a true MFC warrior.

No doubt that he found it increasingly difficult in recent seasons to keep up with the pace of the game but, when he got to a contest, I do not remember him ever looking like taking a backward step.

Never shirked an issue and didn't mind getting down and scrapping for the ball after an inconclusive ball up.

His kicking for goal was always real 'heart-in-mouth' stuff.

Hope he gets a 'Ben Hudson' type chance as a mature age rookie with a team who is in contention in 2016.

Congratulations and thanks, Big Fella.

Selwood is apparently staying at WC. Has agreed to terms.

Oh good, was worried Geelong were going to land him for free.

The after match interview after a win in Darwin while lying down absolutely knackered was very entertaining.

In that stellar year he made Brett Moloney look a very good footballer.

I would also like it if he could run round at Casey and help our youngish rucks next year. Mind you, if Cross and Byrnes play also, it will be a fairly ancient team

I'm not Beamer's biggest fan but this is unfair on him. Both were at their peak.

Knocked back a mature aged rookie spot, reckons he can land a senior list gig somewhere else.

Will play on somewhere else for another year.

As I think most halfway capable mature ruckmen should do. It's the flipside of that old saying about how young rucks take time to develop; it stands to reason that old ruckmen take time to become useless. Edited by Chook

quite well put Chook. Mark simply doesn't fit into where Melbourne is currently, but that's not to say he couldnt be useful for a season or two at another club in a different position. I wish him well.

Hed always be welcome at the Dees after his footy career finishes

True enough P man however the ball was constantly going down Maloney's throat courtesy of the Russian.

If he gets a chance at a coaching role he should jump at the chance

Or at least stand there and stick his bum out.

Had a few really good years as evidenced by his All Australian selection. He always battled his all and was often completely stuffed at the end of matches after rucking his own the whole match, often against multiple opponents.

I've been lucky enough to meet him a few times and he's a really nice guy who always had time for a chat and was really positive.

Best of luck to him for his future and thanks for the service to the club. Will be fondly remembered by my family.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
