On SEN news it is reported that Jake Melksham has requested a trade. He was offered a new 2 yr deal but has decided he needs a fresh start elsewhere.

Yeah I'd trade for him. I'd go as far as our second round selection. But I think Essendon would want more than that.

Melksham can play, there is no doubt about that. But he is bland, that is why I wouldn't offer too much. I think a second rounder is nearly even overs.

* But that isn't taking into account the WADA case coming up. So we'd need some guarantees off the AFL of compensation if this went pear shaped.

very average player. wouldnt be interested

Biggest question of all......was he injected or did he refuse?

Until that is answered (and if he was injected then would have to wait until WADA cleared him) I wouldn't touch him

So what? Awful player, why would we be interested?

I think he can play-although some say he has poor disposal.

Seems to be very quick, and we are slower than treacle on a cold day.

I reckon he would slot into our top 22 pretty easily.

His face is a concern though,as chookrat has noted.

I thought he was ok a few years ago, but 4th rounder, still prob better than a few other fringe players.

No, No, No! Has multiple brain fades and is a very ordinary decision maker. We have enough of those!

I could've just 'liked' this but I feel it is important enough to quote it and underline it.

Would be a tragedy to delist honest but sub-AFL workers like Bail and McKenzie just to replace them with some other club's clanger-ridden list clogger.

He is a PEGS boy, who was coached by Ken Fletcher. From what I saw in his first few years, he is a very talented player. Put players like Brayshaw, Petracca and Viney around him and I Am sure that he can perform. People under rate how much the recent culture at the Bombers has set guys like Melksham back.

just what sort of compensation could the afl offer?

the cas decision is after trade time and before the 2016 season starts. there could be 34 players affected (some not still in afl)

don't expect anything from the afl. caveat emptor

Bombers fans call him milkshake. That's all I need to hear. Move on nothing to see here. Couldn't bear it based only on the fact that his nickname is milkshake

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
