I was over the moon when I realised Sheahan was hosting 360 tonight. An actual pair of intellectuals finally getting the chance to question Roos, rather than a bumbling moron pontificating nonsense.

I thought Sheahan was very clever the way he tackled Roos about the atrocious starts and getting him to concede it came from lack of effort. I am sure Roos understands this and has marked a few players cards as a result.

There is still a core of lazy players that have to go - either that or they just don't get what's required.

In one respect it was the perfect end to the season -- no ifs or buts about certain players now. They were challenged to respond and failed miserably, time and time again.

Just makes Roos' non-nostalgic decisions in a few months time that much simpler.

Bit stiff on Newton there, I think his been okay this year. He's a goalkicker, people forget he had only played 4 games before coming to the club. He is defintly worth persisting with

Not really. The highlight of Newton's season was a 50m goal in the pre-season comp. He's done nothing since.

I think almost every MFC supporter would take Michie & Newton over Terlich, M. Jones, or any of the other countless pre-Roos list-cloggers.

Ultimately, they are only depth players though, but they're still an upgrade on the latter.

MS comment on our woeful starts to games and said that it's just not skill based but EFFORT based which Roos agreed with after a few seconds of silence (insert crickets). I think he was actually a bit taken back by the question and wasn't sure how to answer it initially.

Good to c what most of us harp on here about the lack of effort from the players is noticed by the coach.

Roos also said they will address it over the preseason. Wish MS had asked Roos HOW will this be addressed but unfortunately he didn't.

Another preseason of waiting again.

Best episode of 360 for the yr I reckon.

He actually started to say something about list changes but was cut off...

Just watched the replay episode and Sheahan was brilliant. I hope he hosts it next year. That was pretty hard-hitting. At least, in comparison to the drunk.

I laughed at this: "Melbourne coach Paul Roos has warned club supporters of even more changes to on-field personnel over the off-season".

'Warning supporters" suggests we are going to get bad or disappointing news or be unpleasantly surprised.

Really?
Fact is, we can't wait for the axe to swing on anyone who has a poor attitude, can't follow instructions nor play for the team.

He may be inferring of a trade of someone that the supporters like... there maybe a surprise?

If so, I think he's probably just referencing Howe and Garland. Most would be aware about Howe though.

this is the trademark of Mfc default culture. this is what we keep falling quickly back to; after our tough coaches leave, or are pushed. it doesn't take long before the slippers come back.

if so, then he's forewarning those who like them, of impending disappointment.... but you never know, it may be more than those 2 ?

Yeah, possibly, although I can't see who else it'd be.

Id think dawes, grimes and howe at least are out

Would be surprised by Grimes, though he has done reasonably well all year and is a decent versatile option for a depth player. Not much more than that though.

Seriously, taking the emotion out of it and just looking at it objectively, who in their right mind would want to come here? We might have been able to sucker someone in had we not gone and finished the year with wooden spoon quality

Someone who wants to play more regular football. Someone who wants to play for The Melbourne Footy Club, at the G each week. Someone who wants to play with Hogan, Brayshaw, Viney, Salem, Petracca. et al. Its not all that bad C and B. Chill mun.

How will Dawes be out? What other team will want him?

Unless he retires early due to a chronic injury he is with us for another year

HOW WOULD POSTERS REACT IF CROSS WASN'T GIVEN ANOTHER YEAR BASED ON HIS SENSATIONAL 2015 FORM??

Posted

Roos has mentioned effort many, many times over the past few years.

His responses last night were nothing we haven't heard before. The only difference is that there's a lot of non-answers in between those damning answers so you all forget it. Many times last year he noted the lack of effort, and he has a few times this year as well

Cross will be kept because he tries..and has abilities as well as impact. Hes still a useful stop gap

Hopefully at some point next season he ceases to be an auto top 22 pick. His work with us will have been done on the field. Hope he sticks around though .

Wouldn't be too bothered, as he tries his guts out, but his turnovers, treacle slow running and incessantly momentum killing safe option-taking are frustrating all the same.

Why? You angry?

Sensational? I love the bloke, but he's gotten slower and slower as the year has gone on. Against Freo he was caught a few times in the first quarter, then once the game was won he was left to just rack up easy possessions as a loose man because Freo knew he wouldn't do any damage with his disposal. 27 uncontested disposals. Don't be seduced by the high possession count.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
