Jones - just a shadow

Dunn - season's worst game

Hogan - had no impact

Salem - showed some class

Watts - played without heart

Dawes - played without ability

Viney - was rarely sighted

Lumumba - poor before injury

Brayshaw - little to commend

Gawn - tried but beaten

Stretch - just lacked class

Cross - age has wearied

Newton - has no tricks

Garland - made poor choices

Michie - showed some promise

Vince - game to forget

McDonald - our only winner

Neal-Bullen - little to enthuse

Grimes - same old errors

Garlett - 2 minute performance

Howe - not on field

Harmes - far from ready

Hard to argue with any of those. Although, probably the easiest week to do it, just have to slate every player and you will be close to the mark.

I liked Stretch's efforts. He was not always effective, but as a first year player I reckon he showed up plenty of our others on the field.

I Also thought Stretch showed a bit, another pre season with some good mentors and ??

Hang on!

Watts was good today, probably one of the only ones out there who did play with some heart.

At least we cannot blame Matt Jones & Rohan Bail or Tommy Mac.

I thought Jack Grimes was solid today and Jack W is starting to develop an engine and increased urgency.

Just before quarter time the Carlton supporter next to me said we are pitiful and you are making us look good.

I could do nothing more than smile and nod my head.

If you put your MFC heart to one side it is quite funny to watch.

We are pitiful to watch and so predictable.

The creative ways they manage to cough up goals and squander our own chances at goal really is like some sort of sick comedy at times isn't it? How was that goal in the first quarter when a bunch of them killed the ball several times before first year player Cripps just strolls in from the outside, his opponent trailing metres behind, and puts a slipper on it for a major. Then Dunn and co sheepishly get up to their feet seemingly bewildered at how they had allowed yet another through so quickly and easily. Meanwhile at the other end Watts and Hogan take excellent grabs inside 50 but miss regulation set shots at goal. I actually laughed out loud as it was all I could do not to scream obscenities.

Why do guys we recruit play poorly against their old teams, yet those who leave us play a blinder?

Such as...?

yes agree, Watts was one of our better players, along with McDonald, don't know what some on here expect Watts to do every week but get sick of the twats giving it to him for no real reason.

also Stretch was good for a guy who's played 7 games as was Michie

players who let us down today were Dunn, Garland, Howe, Jones, Vince and Garlett did jackshyte, some of the youger players struggled as well but its the older players letting us down! There was probably 12 players with 40 games or less and 6 in first season FFS

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
