Demonland Player of the Year - Round 21

Had the great displeasure of viewing this live. No votes for Jones, Vince, Viney and Gawn based on their pathetic first half contribution of 21 disposals between them.

6. Tom McDonald - at least he always tries

5. Viv Michie - probably our best in the first half and kept cracking in

4. Jack Watts - made some mistakes but had a crack

3. Ben Newton - thought he had a dip

2. Billy Stretch - worked really hard

1. Jack Grimes - best of the rest

Thought Stretch was a shining light on a bleak day

6. Grimes - from the start to the end. When we made a challenge he was at the coalface.

5. McDonald - still a great mark and works hard. Love that we are using him in the middle.

4. Watts - although faded a little, still was an important cog and who knows what would have happened without him there.

3. Newton - clearances. He had some.

2. ANB - really showed some hardness and a guy who makes leads all day (he's 1 of 2)

1. Michie - he did stuff in the first half when no one else turned up.

I honestly laughed when I saw the title of this thread

I was in stiches writing it. I was waiting for D'land to start the thread so I could give some smartarse reply about sparing us this week, but it seems he's made himself scarce this week, so I had to start it.

Smart man, our Andy...

4. Stretch

Easy to miss in the insipid performance that some things are getting better. Showing a bit more every game along with his mate ANB. Good call on the FS pick by the club.

Very hard to pick given everyone made howlers.

6 Grimes - a couple of dreadful errors just before half time, but our only four quarter contributor.

5 T.Mac - why are his hands so clean when he goes for a mark and yet others can't hold a drink bottle.

4 Michie - our best to half time, but ran out of puff and cramped up in last term. May have saved his career though.

3 N.Jones - couldn't break his tag for first half, but was one of the few who really lifted in the second half.

Not sure I can keep going but, maybe.

2 Dunn- he did beat his opponent, although Watson and Jaksch may be the weakest opposition talls he has ever played on, so it's no surprise.

1 Watts - second half was better and he did look like a leader, even if he again failed to hurt on counter-attack.

One final word for Golly. I get that you are being sarcastic, but to put Nathan Jones in your list of six worst just shows you have no idea what actually was happening out there. Were you at the game or at the bar?

6 - McDonald - makes up for lack of natural ability with a huge heart and wonderful effort

5 - Michie - tried, with limited success but better than the rest

4 - Salem - showed some endeavour and a little of the class that we know he possesses

3 - Grimes - gave a damn but is still so predictable under pressure

2 - Gawn - made a difference for a short time

1 - Dunn - just because

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
