Harley Bennell

Another follow up in response to someone asking why us and what the chances are:

Fair to say he was positive. I'd only heard the rumours we weren't interested. When he said to me we are getting Bennell I questioned it. I know how close this guy and Nev are. He said he'd spoke to Nev today and the meeting was a couple of days ago. Why would he choose us? I can't answer that . Maybe we are a destination club

I hope the rumor is true, but given Roos was quoted in this article:

http://m.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/tigers-to-weigh-up-harley-bennell-dees-and-roos-wont-20150916-gjocyi.html

Only week ago that we wouldn't pursue him, you have to wonder what's changed?

This is Roos we are talking about.

The wheel is turning in this regard. Other clubs are starting to notice that the MFC is becoming more stable and competitive.

This poster on big footy might be talking rubbish but there's no doubt in my mind that whichever club takes on Harley will require a close mentoring program, preferably from a fellow indigenous player who has a proven track record of battling to play footy. Nev fits that mould.

Given that Bennell has been in WA for the last 3 weeks, I call BS on the meeting with Nev and Roos.

Skype?

Skype?

Tele-conference

Maybe but those doen't seem Roos style...he is the type who wants to look someone in the eye.

Anyway, Nev has his own game to worry about rather than 'babysitting' a wayward child.

Nev is currently in WA now with his family. Plus couple of hours flight for Roosy who use to do it every week for Fox.

Can someone pass me the popcorn? I'm ready to settle in and watch everyone get all excited over this rumour and then try and concoct all sorts of reasons why it happened or how it happened to the point that it becomes farcical... right up to the point when he says he is going elsewhere and we were never even in the mix.

Enjoy, fellas.

The source is having a laugh! So easy to start rumours at this type of year

Is that the year of the Sheep, or the type of year whee we don't finish last, or the type of year where an interstate team will probably win the flag?

"We are a destination club" is a BF meme that takes a jab at the fact that no player who's on the market ever nominates us as their "destination club". And at those who think that our apparent improvement means that we're now more desirable.

But Chris Judd/Akermanis/Luke Shuey/Dangerfield/Kennedy have all signed with the dees according to our sources! And Scully is staying

Similar point as is made here.

I think the Demonland consensus is that we're happy for Harley to be in red and blue. So that should get it done, then. Ok, Paul?

Have to pull you up on that one, Daz.

Sir Donald George Bradman was in fact a rather unorthodox batsman, and made most of his runs from cross bat shots such as the pull and cut.

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
