Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No Viv Michie....ever.

Maybe he had the flu/illness as other posters have used to excuse their favourite players having a quiet game on the weekend...I thought Michie was ok early and I would give him another go.

Toumpas played well at Etihad against St Kilda and I would bring him in.

Yes, he made a big impact and probably deserves to stay as the sub..in my opinion we have too many kids/first year players out there, Hogan, Vandenberg, Angus, ANB, Harmes, Stretch....these guys can't be expected to beat seasoned Afl players. I am happy with Hogan, Angus and Vandenberg but I think anymore than three of these in the same team is exposing us.

Trouble is that those with experience playing in Casey are proven NQRs

Salem seems ready. Lumumba should be the one to make way, but we all know he won't.

I'd be looking to give a couple of the kids a break. Glad to hear Roos acknowledged some of the good things Michie did. He certainly wasn't the worst out there, horrendous kick at goal aside.

In: Salem, Vanders, Newton

Out: Harmes, Brayshaw, Neal-Bullen

M Jones the sub.

Out michie/m jones

In Salem

Dunn's first quarter was horrid, but to his credit his next three were great.

Something I noticed creep back into his game was his attack on the ball - might have been the first time this year he attacked it hard and provided drive out of the backline.

Disappointing year, disappointing first quarter, but great quarters 2-4 I thought.

I don't disagree with your argument, but I don't buy that Michie wasn't our worst player (or equal with Garlett).

Michie, unfortunately, is a vanilla midfielder who is easily replaceable, and over whom I would pick VDB every day of the week

In. Vandenburg

Out. Michie

Out: Michie. Just not up to it.

In: Van Demon and Salem

Still want to see Newton

Outs:

Lumumba - need his dash against the dogs, but pointless if he keeps handing them the footy.

Michie - too slow for the dogs

Out: Michie & Lumumba, hopefully both to spend the rest of the year at Casey.

In: Don't really care. Salem and VDB if fit.

Out - Harmes, Michie

In - Newton, Salem (vandenBerg doesn't seem ready)

For team balance yes, too many kids in our team at 1 time, Newton can certainly impact a game and Bail can get his 20 touches at times, which is a lot more than what our first year players are getting.

I don't think North Melbourne had any first year players in their team on the week end and we had 4, at times we have had 5 and 6 first year players on the field.

I would be happy for us to cycle a few marginal players through in the last 4 games so we can have a good look before end of season decision time and perhaps to lift their tradability. .

Fitzpatrick please! Toumpas, Riley, JKH, even White and I would give Salem a run if ready, not that he is in doubt as the future.

Fitzy is odd, groomed this season as a key backman, played there for one game in AFL, did his job well, then thrown forward next game due to injuries and in a belting, was lost and then banished back to VFL, as I remember it all? Papers seem to be stamped but not sure why?

Apart from being one of the oldest and most experienced sides, North also played an extra big - the same as Hawthorn, Freo and Sydney do - which may explain why they are on top.

Until Brown got a corkie in the second term that extra big was killing us - it had very little to do with age, it had more to do with size.

The big factor this week is trying to determine which players are over the flu and also spotting ones that are coming down with flu.

I can't see many changes - Salem has now done his time (three games in VFL) and is highly likely to be included.

VB would also come in, if his ankle enables him too, which I doubt based on other reports.

Fitzy spanked Boyd last time so is an outside chance if he's over the flu. Boyd had a good one in twos and will probably replace Stringer, if he is deemed injured.

Our worst players on the weekend aren't usually poor which is why who goes out is a very tricky decision.

But the Dogs have a good blend of youth and experience like us and we did happen to beat them last time, although this time it is at our graveyard stadium.

Touche, HL.

But Viv M missed targets from 30m with no pressure.

I'd rather we try someone else.

Good point I thought Toumpas turned the corner in that match. He had a blinder in the third quarter if I remember correctly, 11 possessions and set up a number of goals but then a week or two later he was gone? I think too that Etihad might suit him and if over the flu maybe its time to have another look.

Nothing to loose, no one expects us to win this game...Roos could try a few things like he did against Geelong!!

Against Essendon and St Kilda we had all six playing and lost two games we should have won. I admire Roos for playing the kids but we can't expect too much with so many kids out on the ground.

We were 8th last round for players total games played. I don't think we've been playing a particularly young side at all.

The Dogs, scarily, were 18th.

and they would still be 18th without Boyd, Morris, Crameri and Picken with an even younger average age. but it would be a massive change to their side and their ability to take the heat off the kids

Chart was shown on Talking Footy tonight

yeah, saw that

we were around 2000 games iirc

which for a starting 22 is a little under 100 games per player......doesn't sound right

that got me thinking it was for the whole list (40 players or 44 incl rookies)

so, would like to know exactly what it is based on

Why doesn't it sound right? 90 games average would be about right, equals about 5 years on the list.

Cross, Lumumba, Vince and Jones would have played about 850 between the four of them!

Im changing my selections. Originally i had newton coming based on the fact he was named in the best but i just read justin plapps player review and he mention that Newton was disappointing..?? Quite bizarre

And honestly going by reports it sounds like Salem was BOG for the Melbourne players.. yet wasn't named in Caseys best..

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
