Tom Lynch (Adelaide Crows)

This is the first I have heard of it. Anyone else heard anything?

1116 SEN Footy ‏@SENfooty@RobWaters10 saying Tom Lynch is considering a 4 year offer from the Demons #AFLCrowsLions2:53 AM - 22 Aug 2015

I have actually been watching him pretty close all season since I had him in my dreamteam and would be a great pickup. He gets around the ground from drifting across in front of a pack to intercept a mark in the back line to kicking goals, can also pinch hit in the ruck which is a bonus.

I have watched him all year and i have never once seen him in the ruck.

The Herald Sun is running with the story now as well. Doesn't necessarily add any more substance to the rumours but we can probably deduce there is at least something in it.

I'd take him in a heartbeat if he wants to come here. Would add some instantly quality to the list.

I'd probably take him as a swap for whatever we get from Howe. 4 year deal isn't unreasonable either but with his injury history I'd prefer a 3 year to be honest.

He'd provide some work rate at half forward and allow Hogan to stay deeper.

If he's the best we can do I guess we get him, but it probably doesn't do much for our glaring list needs:

- Half back

- Wing

- 2nd ruck forward

If we do get him I'd love to sell Dawes for a meaningful pick (ie. inside 45). Not sure we'd get one though.

We need good players all over the park so I'm not against The Connector. But the form he's in will mean Adelaide asks for at least our 2nd round pick.

Shouldn't we be putting that pick 23-25 toward a pacy, skillful mid or half back flanker, rather than a 3rd tall forward?

Its an interesting one, my mate who's involved with the TAC says their are 5-6 key position players which could go anywhere in the top 15-20 picks based on a clubs needs.

Lions - will go KP

Blues - will go KP (might lose Kruzer and Hendrrson)

Suns - no idea

Bombers - MID (have plenty of book ends)

Demons - MID

Just say we do loose our 2 round pick for Lynch. What do we get for Howe? Where is Howe going.....Giants/Brisbane/Suns?? We want a mid in return.

You're missing Sydney and GWS who are every chance to jump above our selections

There's a player from Geelong Falcons, Charlie Curnow, who might be similar to Lynch and might be around our first pick. We could take him as best available instead of Lynch.

Sorry I'm tired and have missed something. Are GWS and Sydney jumping over us due to academy players or because they will trade out players for picks?

What they will have to pay to select their academy players'. We won't loose a chance to draft kids that are available to us.

Tom Lynch is not a KPF, but he is a leading target (and compared to Dawes, he definitely would not be a backward step. Finds way more of the ball too). The only problem we would have, re: Dawes, is that we may well have to pay some of his contract if we are to release him early (he is on quite a bit).

Happy to pay him to play elsewhere, it hasn't hurt the doggies paying part of Griffens salary this year. What's happened to him by the way?

Hopefully we front loaded his, he can go.

I just don't see a player like Lynch as a priority.

I'd prefer more midfielders.

We need guns all over the field and we need support for Jesse

Lynch had 32 possessions, 9 marks and 5 tackles on the weekend!

Averaging 19.2 posessons, 7.2 marks and has kicked 25 goals... I hope he is a priority fr us and it sounds like he is

Walk and chew gum?

Lynch plays a different role to Dawes and after watching him attempt to push off that right leg, I doubt Dawes will play anywhere but at the Dees in the couple years left in his career. Been better last few weeks but that's lost in all the rage.

We need both.

Our terrible transition from midfield to the forward line is only partially a midfield problem. Our forward line needs a clever lead up general forward as an alternative to hitting up Hogan. Hopefully Jesse wouldn't need to drift so far from goal to chase kicks when we are defending.

Hawthorn rely on three medium forwards in a multi pronged attack rather than the old two kpf, third tall and crumbers set up. Makes for a more versatile, dangerous set up.

We do still need to get in better ball users and decision makers as well.

Normally I'm all for players who can improve the team right now, just not convinced about Lynch but happy to be wrong.

i find it hard to believe that where offering 1.7 million for him for 4 years

Why not, its only just over 400k which will be an average salary soon with the increasing salary cap

Hes way better than Howe who will be asking for as much or more

3 of those years will be in a new TV money landscape. Who knows where the Salary Cap will jump to...

In 2012 it was $8.8m ($9.4 with Marketing Agreements), and in 2016 it will be $10.2m ($11.2m with MA).

That number will be pushed toward $15-17m in a couple years IMO and then you are looking at a contract that was the same money in 2012 being 'worth' half of what it was.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
