Tom Lynch (Adelaide Crows)

I really don't understand how people on D'Land can scoff at us picking up Tom Lynch?

The guy has 22 goals this season from 16 games. He is the perfect 3rd tall in the Jack Gunston mould. A forward line with the following would be extremely dangerous:

HF: Kent Hogan Petracca

F: Garlett XXXX Lynch

I put XXXX because I'm hoping that's who replaces Dawes as our 2nd tall, preferably a guy who is a genuiene ruck/fwd.

I agree there seems to be more love than you'd expect from a player like him.

He's effective. However he always gets third best defender behind Walker and Jenkins.

When Dawes was in form last year he was just as effective as Lynch.

No he wasn't..

Except for when he was banging in goals while Walker was out with an ACL...

Watching Lynch tonight I need to say. I am not impressed.

Will be extremely disappointed if we trade for this fella, gives away stupid frees, does silly turnovers and looks to play for himself. Big no for me, we are trying to rid ourselves of that type of player

Which game, or quarter, was that?

I wouldn't even consider trading Toumpas and our 3rd rounder for Lynch and their second rounder. Let alone throwing our second rounder in WITH Toumpas, that is crazy.

Lynch isn't that good. Toumpas has more upside. He will take time to develop mentally, but when he does, he will be an important player.

Agree regarding Toumpas.

Toumpas has shown the same if not more than someone like JKH, yet because one a is a pick 4 and the other is a pick 40 we're already calling for the head of one and labelling the next as the 2nd coming of Jeff Farmer.

At the dinner with the Viney's last Wednesday young Jack Viney supported the selection of Toumpas over his best mate Oliver Wines.

Whether that was his true belief or just playing the political MFC line I can't say. On the face of it he was very quick in support of Jimmy.

There was a lot of talk on the night around the escapades of young Jack and Oliver growing up together.

I hope to God I am wrong on Toumpas, but at the moment I think he is not in our best 22 and probably won't ever be.

I don't care about his draft number but rather what he has shown.

Hopefully we have Salem, Petracca, Kent, Frost and JT in the side next year. With the regulars and Stretch, ANB and Vandenberg and maybe Prestia where does Toumpas fit in?

I think Harmes is going past him and I think Newton still has something to offer. If we trade in Prestia and maybe another mid and then draft well, his chances appear to become even slimmer.

Then again as I said earlier, I hope I am wrong. It won't be the first time.

You need to read the Prestia thread Mr. Leg.

I wouldn't be surprised if Roos tried to turn him into a big bodied mid given his preoccupation with them. Or more likely fwd/mid.

I'm happy to trade for the right price (i.e.. next to nothing)

So Matthew Bate 2.0? Red hair, to small for a key position, to slow to be a midfielder, but better mark..

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
