Dawes' first 3 kicks were all unbelievably putrid. He dribbled a pass towards a leading Hogan, then he went across half forward and kicked it to the opposition instead of going towards goal, then he runs into goal and dribbles it wide from less than 20m. I always cringe when we recruit players from other sides dating back to the Ben Hollands of this world. Clubs usually dress up their trades and we get lumped with them.

Ben Holland could at least take a mark and could be played down back. Dawes is a poor mans version - it doesn't get much worse than that.

I was disgusted with his performance today.

I am also sick of our players tackling and then falling to the ground and it's in the back & when we throw a hand out and give them an around the neck, or we are near the boundary and we toe pock it for a free. We must rate as either the dumbest players in the league or we don't practice our tackling.

30 odd possessions at 80% efficiency. Yes he struggled at times but tell who would not when we don't work as a unit. Today was Everyman for himself but Grimes had a go, he tried, yes he failed at times but he kept presenting from what I saw on TV. There are others who don't present when needed as is so evident by our static play.

In the scheme of things it's one game of football, a few things went wrong and some horrible umpring didn't help our cause. The result has no bearing on September.

However,

To attract players and members over the off-season (and thus give ourselves a genuine chance to improve), we need to show marked improvement on the field. For mine, that's 7-8 wins. We can't afford to be dropping the winnable ones especially in this fashion. Therefore, we must now beat Carlton (obviously) but also *pinch* a game against one of Collingwood, Bulldogs, Giants or North. Can't see it happening.

Im usually have the optimistic view of "oh well what does it matter, we aren't going to play finals anyway" but no F%#K it I've had enough of that, you know what it does fuking matter... It matters to all us supporters who go week in week out and put our hard earned towards memberships for the club and they dish this [censored] up week in week out. 12 months ago, we sat through games like this and thought "it's all part of the process, in time we will be better off" we are no better of then when Roos took over 18 months ago. I am really at the end with this football club, they show us nothing.

I have a feeling Roos has given Goodwin the opportunity to add in an attacking flare and the players are now caught in between wanting to move the ball quickly and wanting to defend but are doing neither and we don't have the smarts or skill to move it quick.. Our players idea of moving it quick is to flick a handball to the closest person to them (usually stationary) and with an opponent on their tail. What happened to the attacking style we saw earlier in the year against GC then Queens birthday against collingwood and when we beat Geelong... I don't know where we go to from here

I love the club I've already agreed to see my friends football team play next Saturday over the Dees. However knowing my luck, Hogan will kick 8 and we'll smash the Pies by 10 goals.

I've asked this question quite a few times now and no one has been able to answer me: why will/would Jesse hogan stay with us? Someone convince me?

Sadly, seriously, I did get the impression today that he was starting to lose interest in this inept team (using the term 'team' very loosely, as a team is a group of people with similar interests working together towards a common goal - clearly MFC are not a team. They are not working towards a common purpose as they appear to have no aims or purpose at all.)

His departure would be the final nail in the rapidly filling coffin into which thus club Isabel to quickly descending. We may fluke one more win this season but there really has been little progress.

One needs to kick goals to have any chance of winning. 7,8,5 goals against ordinary teams the past rounds is never going to win, and never ever going to attract or retain membership, or perhaps more importantly, decent players.
