DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Round 16

6 - Hogan - it's scary to think where we would be without him.

5 - Cross - backline general. Just professional yet again.

4 - Gawn - dominated in the ruck. Need him to kick straight (or bent on the snaps).

3 - Viney - poor rockcliff

2 - vanDenburg - would have we beat St K with him?

1 - Howe - best game for the year. Should get more votes but still hurting for on the first 14 games.

6. Gawn: He's starting to look at home in #11

5. Cross: Playing like he wants another go around in 2016.

4. Howe: His best game of the season by a long shot.

3. Hogan: His first quarter won us the game.

2. Dawes: I've been one of his biggest critics for a long time, but he was very good today.

1. Jetta: Great attack on the man and the ball, as usual.

6 - Jesse Hogan - in a low scoring game he kicked 4.1 and took 11 marks with 16 touches. Beast.

5 - Jack Viney - gave Rockliff a football lesson. Hes going to give the Bluey a fair shake. He has arrived.

4 - Max Gawn - gave the mids first use and kept us in it in the 3rd quarter with great pressure. Shame he had that poster, deserved a goal

3 - Jeremy Howe - best game of the season by a mile.. used his aerial strength to impact the game. Must do that every week

2 - Daniel Cross - the old warhorse never stops, racked up touches and constantly up thrusts from the backline

1 - Chris Dawes - like Howe, his best game of the season by far. Started like a house on fire when the game was won.

Armchair view

6. Gawn (A versatile and mobile tower)

5. Hogan (Can't believe this kid has only played half a season)

4. Cross (He's got another year in him)

3. Dawes. (Covers a huge amount of ground to impact on the game)

2. Howe, ( Best personal and team game for a while)

1. Jetta. (Never shirks. Rarely beaten)

6 - Viney (negated their best player while getting plenty of useful touches himself)

5 - Hogan (matchwinner)

4 - Cross (Good game culminating in him selling the candy at full back. Never thought I'd see the day)

3 - Gawn (overhead marking a feature)

2 - Howe (looks better in defence)

1 - Jetta (decision making and contesting excellent)

6 - Hogan: His 4 goals won us the game. Outstanding for a young KPF in his first season.
5 - Cross: Just pipped by Hogan for top votes imo. Leadership and courage personified!

4 - Gawn: His contested marking and 'one percenters' typify how he's improving as a player.
3 - Howe: Best game for the year (luckily Roos played him to preserve his trade value)
2 - Jetta: Back to his hard / reliable best.

1 - Garland: Good dedenders' game. Marked (or mostly) spoiled everything in his area.

6.Cross - chopped off and set up love what he brings and think he can go again and will be teaching our boys what playing AFL is about

5.Hogan - bounced back after 2 down weeks and dominated as a key forward, works hard and delivered on the scoreboard

4.Gawn - Improving every week and was the best ruckman on the ground against two guys who have been in decent form of late

3.Viney - really really good year and just always gives 100% at every contest, would hate to play against him, future captain just leads and hasn't hit 50games yet

2.Howe - composed with his ball use and used his aerial talent to advantage, played as he should no keep it up

1.Dawes - worked solidly presented as a target freeing Hogan up applied pressure to opponents forcing mistakes, workrate and pressure of this sort has a massive impact on Hogans ability to influence a game

Unlucky Jetta & Vanders

6- Gawn ( excellent tap work and strong marking )

5 - Dunn ( composed and safe all game )

4 - Hogan ( 4 goals and involvement around the ground)

3- Howe ( actually made some second efforts and was a great springboard from attack)

2- Cross ( would have scored more but for the continued butchering of disposals)

1 - Jetta ( made some important interceptions and tackled superbly)

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
